A few things crossed my mind while I rode out the Blizzard of 22 on Cape Cod.
- Since the arrival of Covid-19 a little more than two years ago, neither I nor anyone I know has been restricted to a Lockdown. I worked, shopped, saw my dentist, doctor, barber, sold my house, moved, bought a new house. Not once was my travel ever restricted.
- I have never been subjected to a Vaccine Mandate from the government. No one has ever visited my home to check my vaccine status or hold me down and vaccinate me against my will.
- Tom Brady is a magnificent football player but apart from being paid to be a quarterback for a team owned by the Kraft family who owns a team in Massachusetts, that’s about it. As I listen to the guys calling into local sports radio with their hurt feelings that Tom did not mention “us” in his retirement, I think to myself, these guys probably think that the ladies dancing at the “gentleman’s club” and smiling at them are convinced that it’s because of their good looks and magnetic personality.
- When inflation drives the price of bacon up 22%, if I stop buying bacon for a while, I’m not affected by inflation.
- The answer to the question “Why must President Biden nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court” is best answered by another question, “Why, in over 200 years, has their never been a black woman on the Supreme Court”?

Technically, nobody stopped me from leaving my apartment, but in the early days there was no place else to go except the grocery store. Bans on gatherings contrary to the first amendment meant no meetings, events, etc. and I really did feel confined to my tiny studio which I referred to as my cell even before the pandemic hit.
We need vaccine mandates IMO, not to leave your residence, but to enter just about anyplace else. Much preferable to mask mandates.
I don’t generally care about sports, but do find it odd that Brady didn’t mention New England.
Inflation generally impacts prices overall, though I have not felt it as much as it seems others have.
I prefer qualifications over identity for the Court, but the black women on the short list are all highly qualified and there’s plenty of precedent for considering identity, including from Republicans.
