People are dreaming if they think that the Democratic Party can lose the 2022 congressional election, and then have a normal presidential election in 2024. Republican leadership has been explicit that President Biden will be impeached if they take control of the first branch of government next year.
Polls show white and latino men migrating to the Republican side.
Democracy itself is at stake this year, 2022, not next year or the year after.
Democrats, lost in policy minutia about important issues, appear to be sleeping and oblivious to this evident reality.
Not good.

If Republicans overplay their hand they can easily be rebuked in 2024. Part of me says impeach away – Biden won’t be convicted by the Senate. The problem with that is that impeachment just becomes a political weapon for whenever the House and the presidency are of different parties. How do we convince the American people that some objectively deserve impeachment and others don’t?

The GOP will impeach any Democratic president the next time the GOP gains a majority of the House. Any Democrat, not just Joe Biden.
I agree that Democrats appear to be sleepwalking — apparently oblivious to the insurrection being driven by the GOP.

My hunch is that Democrats will try to frighten voters with the idea that “Roe v Wade” is at risk in 2022 (which may be true) – but that’s not going to affect white and latino men. Democrats use Roe V Wade in the same way that Republicans use the 2nd Amendment. Single Issue voters scare the hell out of me.

In a way, one of our best outcomes for the 2022 elections would be for the Republicans to take the House while the Democrats retain control of the Senate. In that scenario, Biden would be insulated from impeachment, a possible USSC appointment would still be in play, and American citizens would get a full view of how nutz the Republicans are as Marjorie Taylor Greene and company get a louder voice – leading to a backlash in 2024 to regain the house and strengthen the hold on the Senate and White House.

Until we find a way to restore a semblance of truth in the mainstream media, I am loath to embrace any strategy that involves showing how “nutz the Republicans are”.
The criminal enterprise formerly known as the “GOP” is now a domestic terrorist organization dedicated to the violent overthrow of the legitimate US government.
Overseas commentators correctly observe that Vladimir Putin and Russia successfully seized control of the US government as a result of their 2016 operation. This was documented in the Mueller report. The Democrats in the House and Senate chose to ignore that historic interference.
Until the now-metastasized cancer is fully excised, it will continue to spread throughout the American body public, ravaging it as it does.
None of our institutions are safe while the cancer goes untreated.

I agree in full. I also believe that we will lose the house in 2022 but I hope that we will retain the senate, maybe even pick up a seat. Each day that goes by with not a single Trump administration member or Republican involved in January 6th in jail, brings us closer to them taking power, and the clock is ticking.
Trying to motivate the Democratic vote with Roe V Wade or Climate Change or frankly any social issue is a losing strategy. We need to be tough on crime, tax corporations that are gouging consumers and driving inflation, get real concrete results with lower drug prices, and continue to run ads showing Trump and his ilk praising Putin.
