I was never quite sure what the jury was being asked to decide here. Obviously he blew off Congress and admitted it, so was the question whether the subpoena were lawful or if he were protected by privilege?

“Blowing off Congress” as you so nonchalantly say by questioning the legality of the subpoena, IS A CRIME! It’s called CRIMINAL CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS for failing to produce documents and testimony to the J6 Committee.
And no. The BLOVIATOR was not privileged because he wasn’t working for the Criminal-in-Chief when he committed the crimes.

Fred, I wish you would take a breath sometimes. I KNOW it’s a crime, but my question was what was the jury being asked to decide since it was obviously a crime and he obviously committed it. I don’t question the legality of subpoena, but I was wondering if that were Bannon’s defense.

The trial was quick in no small part because the judge (appointed by Donald Trump) correctly ruled out both of those lines of defense before jury selection even began.
Mr. Bannon claimed that he didn’t understand that the subpoena was for a specific date. Mr. Bannon, in effect, had no defense.
The prosecution showed, in its brief and successful presentation of the case, that the committee had a legitimate reason to demand that Mr. Bannon appear. The prosecution also showed, using quotes from Mr. Bannon’s own podcast, that he was well aware of the date and was intentionally refusing to comply.
Just before the trial began on Monday, the MSNBC talking heads described the trial as an extended sentencing hearing.
