Kansas Republicans outnumber Democrats 2 to 1 in registration. Wow!

This is a good win, and it is a win for the people in Kansas and surrounding states like Oklahoma and Missouri and Nebraska who will need reproductive healthcare.
But remember that 6 of 7 KS justices on the state supreme court face election in November. That could be tough, but in a partisan race at least the Catholic Church can not spend millions of dollars.https://boltsmag.org/kansas-voters-reject-abortion-amendment/

After Dobbs, there was a 1000% increase in Kansas registered voters. PUKES are screwed in November! FORWARD !!!!!

This is big and welcome win.
We can all hope it is harbinger of things to come.

Also Kansas margins were way better than I thought, Dems should run Roe restoration ballot campaigns in 24’ the way Dubya and Rove ran gay marriage bans in 2004. Clearly it drives up Democratic turnout and wins over moderates and independents.

20% of all Constitutional freedom Kansas votes were REPUBLICANS!

That seems about right for this electorate and for the national average. I knew a lot of socially moderate voters at U Chicago who held their nose for Romney since “we all know Roe will never be overturned”. How wrong they were then and I am fairly certain most of these folks have been voting Democratic since Trump emerged as the nominee.

43 states would vote to support abortion rights according to new polling.

I assume it’s too late for 2022, but I agree with JConway above that this could be for Dems in 2024 what same-sex marriage was for Republicans in 2004.

The biggest downside to this strategy is how many of these states do not have citizen initiatives. Even Kansas does not, we lucked out with foolish anti-choice conservative legislators putting it on the ballot thinking it’d be a slam dunk.

For better or worse, Kansas does have a history of putting the biggest questions of the day up for a vote.
I think most of the states where this needs to work are western states that do have ballot questions. MA is actually a bit of an outlier in this regard for our part of the country, but then reproductive rights are probably already the safest in our part of the country.

After Dobbs, voter registration increased 500% in TX, IL, IN and TN.
