And poof! Just like that, the epic hilarity, the singular wit and devastating political commentary that was Eric Fehrnstrom’s CrazyKhazei Twitter account is gone.
Except that it isn’t. You’ll be pleased to know that I foresaw the possibility that something … unfortunate … might happen to CrazyKhazei, so I kept an archive of the entire account. You can see it here in PDF format (the formatting is slightly odd, but the content is all there), and I’ve also got a series of screenshots of the whole thing.
Tweeting is forever … isn’t that how the old song goes?
Please share widely!

I effing LOVE the title of this post. Either that, or the late night and upcoming lack of sleep that is my early day Friday is making me giggle a little too much.

I’m surprised it lasted this long. I figured it’d be gone by the time I woke up yesterday. I figured Fehrnstrom would delete the account, deny involvement, and that would be the end of it. Instead, he continued to tweet on it. Kind of funny to see how he and Brown have prolonged the story by delaying comments/actions.
This has all proven to me, again, how powerful a platform BMG is. Thanks for all you guys do to make it possible.

as the people who make good use of it, as you did. Well done. 🙂

I thank you. History thanks you. And generations of comedians to come will thank you.

and said “it’s not a big deal”. Instead he looks like a whiner because somebody was tweeting mean at him.
I can’t stand campaign consultants but the truth is it’s not a big deal.

that can tip elections. I’m sure you know both that and IOKIYAR.

The Democrats have nothing to run on and so they’re going negative on Brown three times a day, so I guess it cuts him down a little too. Khazei played it like a stiff and tipped the election to Warren (or candidate du jour). CrazyKhazei is more famous that Khazei will ever be.

of the tweets? i.e. blackberry, iphone.
I have a funny feeling that more than one person had access to this account. Its a bit of conjecture, but @EricFehrn posts from a blackberry, so if there were tweets made from an iphone or droid, it would suggest that either he has more than one mobile device, or, that someone else was also posting…

The tweets were a stupid prank. Worse, they were not really funny. The gulf between offensive conduct and valuable satire is merely whether it makes you laugh.
With all due respect to this site and its followers, politics needs MORE levity. It has become so cramped because of PC concerns.
Here, Twittergate is the best thing that has happened to Khazei thus far. There are probably ten more people who know who he is, bringing the total to twenty.
Without such pranks we would be relegated to non-stop Irene chatter, and Menino warnings to use extra precautions when kayaking on the Charles.

I agree with this part.

Totally with you there. I also agree that some more actual levity in politics would be a good thing – *if* it’s possible to accomplish that without taking cheap shots at someone else who happens to be running against you. What we really need are politicians with decent senses of humor who aren’t afraid to use them. Are there any of those around? I honestly can’t think of one off the top of my head.
I actually agree with you on this as well. After about 10 days of nonstop Elizabeth Warren chatter, Khazei is suddenly back on the front pages and in the newscasts. It makes it seem as though he’s the one Brown is scared of, which is all to his benefit. Plus, Khazei just sent around a fundraising email based on Fehrnstrom’s stupid prank. Pretty much win-win for him.

Chris Christy, politics aside, can be amusing.
Ross Perot, unintentionally, was hysterical. Remember the debate when he scoffed at Clinton’s managerial credentials as Gov. of Arkansas…’nothing but an economy of a bunch of chicken farmers. Paultry (poultry?) when compared to EDS.’ And let’s not forget his running mate the good Admiral.
Non-candidate Warren best get in the twitter-fray. She seems very dry. Probably lovely in person. I fear she will tweet a law review article in thousands of 140 character tweets.
