Thanks to the great and mighty Kate Donaghue, we’re planning a BMG canvass in Lowell 12:30pm this coming Sunday! We’ve tried to find a way to even include friends and family who may be non-political (or young), so we’re tying in a “Working the River” boat ride from the Lowell National Historic Park.
Here , are the options:
- PLAN A – Boat ride for all from 11 AM to 12:30, and then canvass while friends and family visit the Park and take in the sights and some of the other tours. [Arrive 15 minutes earlyto get tickets: Adults, $8.00; Seniors/students, $7.00; youth (6-16), $6.00; children 5 & under, free.]OR:
- PLAN B – Come for 12:30 PM and canvass while friends and family visit the Park and take in the sights and do the 2:00 PM boat tour.
Mix and match for what suits you and your family.
Canvassing — meeting people and talking to them — is the bread and butter of a campaign. It’s how we turn thoughts and talk into action; how we listen to and inform the public, and how we turn out the vote. It’s just about the realest thing you can do for a campaign.
See you there!
Please share widely!
I participated in a similar canvass day (I think for Jamie Eldridge when he ran for Congress) in a previous cycle which Kate organized to include visiting Minuteman National Historical Park. Whatever the context, I highly recommend visiting (disclosure – I have both worked and volunteered there.) Lowell National Historical Park, which tells the story of the Industrial Revolution and the role of immigrants in the American economy.
This is a great idea, and the canal trip is well worth taking as well.
Christopher, you are correct that we did similar activites in 2007. We toured Minuteman National Historical Park, the Garrison House in Chelmsford and dir the Canal Boat ride in the Lowell National Historical Park. Please do join us!
I just noticed that there is not a link to RSVP. Well now there is.
Charley, you post the facebook event, and I will get invites out. There isn’t a discharge date yet on Marc. As a result my own planning is kind of on hold, but I can certainly be a facebook relay point. I think the event planlooks excellent, and would really love to get to see folks.
It even appears, Amberpaw, that you are already on the invite list!:)
Great weather predicted. Fun group has RSVPed. If you take the 10 AM train out of North Station there should be time to get the boat. Call me at 508-404-8531. If you take the noon train you should be there in time to canvass. We’ll pick you if you call.
call me if you need me to pick people up at 10:43. I could also grab people at 12:43 for the canvass if you are starting from downtown or that general area, before heading to my class.
though I have a commitment in the afternoon. But it’ll be good to see peeps, at least.
Anyone need a ride from the train station if you are coming in by commuter train? I live around the corner and it’d be on my way (well, if I take one route and not another, LOL).
I’ll check this comment for responses on rides by 10am tomorrow in case anyone does. đŸ™‚
PS – I just have to share this. In her message to me, Kate says at the end, “how about I assume you’re coming and you can call me if you can’t make it.” God she is good!!! Hehe.
Looking forward to seeing you.
Kate
It was a lot of fun. The boat ride was very informative. We knocked a lot of doors.
