Next week the Republican National Committee is holding a meeting in Boston. Special guests include Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie and Chairman Reince Priebus. Please sign our letter welcoming them to our great Commonwealth and give them some tips for their stay!
Welcome RNC!
We here at Team Spilka wanted to take a few minutes to introduce you to our great state. We thought we’d give you a few pointers to help you with your stay in our Commonwealth:
First, be sure to take deep breaths while you’re here and soak up as much clean air as you can; we have some of the cleanest air in the country. In fact we are #1 in the country in clean energy.
For any gay, lesbian or transgender Americans traveling to the RNC meeting, we want you to be sure you know that discrimination is illegal. Also, if you meet that special someone, good news! We were the first state in the union to legalize same sex marriage!
Also, we can save you a few bucks at the airport when it comes to checking your bags. Don’t bother packing your assault weapons; they’re not allowed here. In fact we are in the top two states for lowest gun violence.
For any of the women attending the RNC meeting, if you need access to health care, or wish to go to a Planned Parenthood clinic for a cancer screening or contraception, you won’t have to drive several hours to the other side of the state; you also won’t be harassed on your way into a clinic.
We know that you all are obsessed with repealing the Affordable Care Act (doesn’t 40 votes seem a bit excessive even by your standards?). But we enacted the prototype right here in MA. And guess what? It’s great. Over 98% of our population is insured. Our health care premiums are down, insurance companies can’t discriminate on the basis of preexisting conditions. Young people are able to stay on their parents’ plans.
You may even want to stay and look for work! Our state’s economy is really taking off under our Democratic Governor Deval Patrick and our Democratic legislature. And if you would like to join a union, those are alive and well here, helping ensure a thriving middle class. We are also considered the Innovation State.
In fact you may want to move here so your kids can go to our terrific schools. MA has consistently been rated #1 in education.
So please enjoy our great state. Here’s hoping some of our values stick.
Sincerely,
Team Spilka

Well done! Gotta love a candidate with a sense of humor.

RNC, if the state Republican party offers advice for how to be an effective organization, please emulate it nationally! The country will owe you a debt of gratitude if you reduce your legislative presence to 20% like we have in our fair commonwealth…

that your influence, with that 20%, is weaker at the national level than the state GOP’s is here. Some days I think I missed a state constitutional provision making every day “Backwards Day” on economic policy in the General Court.

Being #1 in clean energy, is that why we have the 9th highest electrical rates, behind the likes of Hawaii, Alaska, CA, NY, NJ, VT, NH, and CT? Are you trying to make us #1 by supporting Cape Wind?
You are ok with AR-15 weapons so long as it contains a 10 round metal clip, b/c besides from that technicality, those weapons are legally sold in MA.
Our health care premiums are down? Down from what, the stratosphere? If anyone’s premiums remained the same from the prior year, then their out-of-pocket liability went up, likely doubled by the thousands.
Romneycare didn’t incentivize employers to slash the hours of their employees to avoid a tax penalty. Why do you think most of the Obama jobs are waiters, bartenders, and service jobs? 1+1 does = 2.
Young people at age 25-26 were looking to buy a home at that age, not live at home and have mom or dad cover their health insurance. “Is this Obama’s way of bringing families closer together”.
If you and Deval have done such a great job in having our economy “take off”, why did you have to increase taxes? The government should have plenty of money filling the tax coffers, in a economy that’s “taking off”.
Regarding test scores of our kids being #1. “Minority students do comparatively well in Texas, with Latino and black students outperforming their peers in others states. Looking at the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress exam results, Latino and black students in Texas outperformed Latino and black students nationally in both 4th and 8th grade in all subjects.”. According to the chart, Hispanic children in TX outperform their counterparts in Massachusetts.

And learned nothing on the karenSpilkaforcongress website. She wants middle class tax reform, but no specifics what that is. She wants to amend Obamacare, but doesn’t mention what. She claims she helped businesses grow and relocate to MA, but no names.
I got annoyed with the comment our health care premiums are lower in Massachusetts, such an incensitive comment to make to those shelling out thousands a year in premiums and out-of-pocket expenses, it’s almost a disqualifying comment, but perhaps an intern wrote that line, but I took it personally.
Me at an RNC Convention? Why do you say that, b/c I write the truth?
That’s why if you go on Will Brownsberger’s website, you get detailed solutions on various issues, including questions from the public, including me.
