The Globe reports that there is a bill making its way through the General Court that would name South Station after Governor Dukakis, who has always been a big fan of public transportation. Governor Weld has been pushing this along with Dukakis aides. I for one much prefer this kind of name over selling corporate naming rights.

It seems if they really would like to honor him, they’d push for the rail link he advocated for (and still does).

More than a plaque or two at South Station.
Sure, it might give Boston a more coherent transit system, but…

But will anyone really call it that? They’ll still just call it South Station.

A fine Transportation Secretary. Better than LaHood or Volpe. Of course Obama is too scared of his own shadow to give Fox that easy bait.

“He would have been…”? I don’t know if Dukakis would be bigger Fox bait than anyone else, but I don’t se him accepting a Cabinet post at this stage of his life.
