Charlie Baker’s MBTA is further bleeding itself of resources with a “customer appreciation day”.
I use The T almost every day. So like any sane regular user, I have a monthly pass, which I don’t get a discount on to cover today. So not only am I one of the people most affected by the T’s failures this winter, but I get to subsidize the people who don’t take it very often and didn’t suffer much from its collapse.
In what world does this make sense? The fundamental unfairness of Free Fair Day, by itself, is enough reason to boot Charlie Baker in 2018.

…that you can buy your May monthly pass at a discount as part of the deal too.

Let’s at least hope this deal picks up some new T riders.

Do they cover their costs based solely on the passes they sell or do they also get a little assistance from the tax payers?

Apparently today was Free Donut day, and nobody told me.

I recommended this, because I agree that the misguided “Free Fare Day” is an insult to regular T riders.
I don’t agree, however, that the finger should be pointed only at Charlie Baker. This wouldn’t have happened without the at least passive collusion of Bob DeLeo and the House leadership.

I used the opportunity to take the Commuter Rail to Fitchburg. I have never ridden the line, and I enjoyed the view. The train has a nice view of Walden Pond.
