This is a hopefully helpful list of Democratic primaries in 2018. The primary date is September 4, 2018 (unless otherwise noted for special election). This list is largely based on the list of recently formed committees per OCPF.
Incumbents in italics. All candidates listed are Democrats except Republican incumbents, who have -R after their names.
House/Senate races listed alpha by county; then number.

Two thoughts on this: One is that it’s amazing how many seats are unchallenged. (But we knew that.)
Another is how many opportunities there are to get significantly more progressive. So many races, actually; so many primaries and opportunities to nudge candidates into more favorable positions.
I need more on the DAs. This could be a big moment — especially for Suffolk.
Another open House seat — in the fourth Plymouth district. James Cantwell leaving to go work for Ed Markey.
Some info on DA races:
Suffolk (Evandro Carvalho): https://www.dotnews.com/2018/rep-carvalho-out-first-suffolk-race-seek-suffolk-da-post
Middlesex (Donna Patalano) http://cambridge.wickedlocal.com/news/20180221/winchesters-donna-patalano-wants-to-bring-transparency-to-middlesex-das-office

I am also running in the Democratic Primary for the 4th Congressional District emphasizing the need for more members of Congress willing to make climate change their headline issue. http://www.garyrucinski.com
Thanks for the reminder Gary! I knew I’d heard of your entry. Will include.
I’ve been tracking these as part of a work project and making maps out of it. Check them out:

Thanks Jake, and welcome! I’m going to try these on a laptop since my mobile experience is a little cramped …
Senate map link seems broken.
He mispunctuated, putting a comma rather an a dot in bit.ly. Senate can be seen here.
Thx, fixed
Here are my additions:
STATEWIDE – You missed LG entirely, Quentin Palfrey and Jimmy Tingle
Not sure whether Patrick Murphy is serious about challenging Deb Goldberg. (He filed letter of intent with state party, but I have not seen evidence of signature gathering.)
GOVERNOR’S COUNCIL –Nick Carter is challenging Marilyn Petitto Devaney in the 3rd district.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY – Donna Patalano is challenging Marian Ryan for District Attorney.
ESSEX COUNTY – Alexcy Vega is challenging Paul Iannuccello for northern district Register of Deeds.
STATE SENATE – Barry Finegold is seeking to regain his former seat in 2nd Essex and Middlesex.
CONGRESS (per Politics1.com)
Tahirah Amatul-Wadud is challenging Richard Neal in District 1.
There’s a Dom Warren listed for District 2, but his supposed website is not live.
Keith St. John is also running for District 3.
Christopher Voehl is also running in District 8.
Patrick Murphy decided not to challenge Goldberg because of family obligations; he still believes her thin record deserves scrutiny. Disclaimer: I’m his brother.
Good to know – thank you.
Please tell me I’m not dreaming – someone is primarying State Rep. Kate Hogan?! Does anyone know Edward Basile? Is he Progressive? As someone who has been extremely disappointed and even ignored (and given stink eye) by Rep. Hogan, this is indeed exciting news…unless of course he is even more conservative than Rep. Hogan.
Now, for a couple of additions:
You missed one of the candidates running for CD-03: Keith St. James. So yes, there are *13* people running for this seat. (Full disclosure: I am a die-hard volunteer coordinator for Alexandra Chandler.)
There’s also a new candidate who joined the race for the 14th Middlesex last week: Tara Edelman.
Keith’s last name is St. John.
Tell me more about Hogan.
A little bird told me that my 9th Essex district ( Saugus p. 1,2, 4-9 ; Wakefield p. 1-3, 7 and Lynn ward 1, p. 1 & 2) incumbent Republican State Representative Donald Wong may be challenged by a decorated U.S. Army Veteran, Democrat Matt Crescenzo of Saugus.
Stay tuned folks. This could get very interesting.
Run Matt, run !
15th Middlesex:
You need to add my favorite candidate, Mary Ann Stewart.
https://maryannstewart.org/
Gutsy Deval Patrick appointee to the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Smart, progressive, would be a great representative.
Yes – http://MaryAnnStewart.org is my favorite candidate too ! The only bold progressive leader in the race to replace Jay Kaufman, who has been a bold progressive leader for 24 years. We can’t afford NOT to elect Mary Ann!
Believe it or not there is another candidate to CD3.
First Middlesex Senate just became a primary. Eileen Donoghue was chosen last night to be City Manager of Lowell. AFL-CIO lobbyist John Drinkwater and City Councilor Rodney Elliot are among the candidates to succeed her.
In the 1st Essex, Dem Jennifer Rocco Runnion is GOP Rep Kelcourse and Dem Christina Eckhardt is challenging GOP Rep Mirra.
Terry Ryan has opted to forgo the 3rd CD race in favor of seeking the 1st Middlesex Senate seat.
Just a heads-up — the section for MA-GOV still includes Setti Warren.
One more! 15Th Suffolk incumbent Ways and Means chairman Jeff Sanchez is getting a strong primary challenger from Nika Elugardo. He is a former progressive and current DeLeo lackey, she is a former legislative aide to progressive champion Sonia Chang Diaz who is staying neutral in the race. Should be interesting!
