This is from a Smulowitz campaign volunteer named Kelsey. I thought I would share it with you because I felt it captures nicely the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm surrounding this campaign.
“I began volunteering for Democratic candidate for state Senate Peter Smulowitz yesterday afternoon, and upon entering his busy campaign office was immediately struck by an almost palpable excitement as everyone eagerly worked to reach out to citizens during these crucial final days before the May 11th election.
It is not often that an emergency room physician and health care policy expert runs for State Senate. Peter Smulowitz represents a new breed of politician, a candidate whose daily work exposes him to the challenges of ordinary citizens. His dedication to new ideas based on real solutions stems from his passion for ensuring that the Commonwealth is responsive to constituents’ needs rather than those of well-backed interest groups.
As the race between Smulowitz and Ross is incredibly tight and will likely come down to less than 100 votes, the winner will be the candidate with the better GOTV operation. For a candidate whose real-life experience supports a message that I believe in, I was happy to volunteer.
This is a really important election, and I hope other progressives consider volunteering for Peter Smulowitz on Election Day!”
Make no mistake, this is going to be a very, very close race. Peter Smulowitz won the Democratic primary by about 100 votes, and the general against Rep. Ross is likely to be even closer. This is a race that will come down to ground game on Tuesday.
Please consider volunteering for the Smulowitz campaign on election day, Tuesday May 11th, or before.

I am not doubting that he is a competent physician who is good at his job, but what exactly makes him a “health care policy expert”? My relatives, yes plural, who are doctors do not consider themselves to be health care policy experts in any way, shape, or form. When I hear or read about someone being an expert I automatically assume there are credentials to back up that claim.

p>Medical school does not teach much in the way of policy, only practice, so what type of education or experience has Mr. Smulowitz received regarding policy creation and implementation specific to the recent national health care legislation?

It seemed like they are really humming along now, gotten their stride. The WBZ interview / debate today was a great performance by Smulowitz, even though Ross’s brain showed up for this one, Ross still wasn’t as good as Smulowitz.
