I usually hate Howie Carr, but …

December 15, 2005 By David

his column today about the Quittster’s exit is pretty much right on target (except for the part where he assumes that Romney would have easily beaten Tom Reilly – not so clear to me, though it’s certainly possible).  A choice quote:

He likes to do something once, and then exit, stage right. “Hit and run,” as Jon Keller put it last night. That’s what being a venture capitalist is all about — buy a distressed property, tart it up, take it public and run for the hills, or, in this case, the White Mountains.

But on this one I think Mitt makes a mistake. Until yesterday, he was the master of his own fate. Now he relies on the kindness of strangers. He could buy the governorship next year. The presidency is a crap shoot, and he’s putting all his chips on one toss.

“I’m not walking away,” he said last night, and he’s right. He’s not walking, he’s running.

Read the whole thing.  Oh – and if you don’t have a Herald login, the good people of BugMeNot can help you with that.
