With Patrick having done as well as he did Reilly’s numbers just are not there. Perhaps it is my inability to do fuzzy math but I think that Reilly is under his 15%
That would be a real revolution. The democrat front-runner, career politician Tom Reilly fails to get his 15% and then fails to get on the ballot for the primaries.
Guess that’s what you get for not being good at politics…

Reilly will probably get on the ballot even if he did not have any elected delegates. The ex officios (which account for about 30% of the delegates) will probably get enough votes for him to make it over the 15% hump not matter what. However I would not doubt that Deval would have a chance at getting the endorsement of the party by getting greater than 50% of the votes at the convention.

First of all, everything I am hearing is that there is real doubt that Reilly got 15% of the elected delegates and many of the ex officios will vote with Deval.

If Tom Reilly gets his 15%, they will not come from the people who are elected to make that decision; they will come from the party aparchiki who have lost us that office for almost two decades.

What I find interesting is that the candidate who toutes himself as critical of the party, relies on the most entrenced to get on the ballot.

If this were Denmark, we’d be holding our noses.

All the ex-officios that I know of are from the ol’ boys network. Most will be backing Reilly, especially those of the Irish-Catholic lot.

the temptation to stereotype based on ethicity? Look, Deval is generating plenty of support among the “Irish-Catholics” (see Cong. Jim McGovern, a ton of Irish-American State Reps), just as Tom Reilly has support of some African-Americans. I happen to be of Irish descent, and resent the fact that many so-called progressives seem so hostile toward people like me. Yes, most of the ex-officios are likely to go with Reilly… but why would we discourage any segment of the population from joining the team? It just seems very short-sighted to me.
