Start practicing your John Hancock, pull out that Cross pen you got for high school graduation, grab your kidâs favorite magic marker, whatever you have to doâbut get ready for our big signature drive! Led by âMollie the Marvelous,â otherwise known as our field coordinator Mollie Meikle, we are asking each of you, and your neighbors, friends, and long lost bookclub acquaintances to help us round up the signatures necessary to appear on the ballot.
This is democracy at its best! No candidate can appear on the ballot without gathering at least 10,000 certified signatures by early May (the 9th to be exact). Since I am running for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor, we can accept signatures from registered Democrats or Independents. A portion of the signers will inevitably forget key parts of their information or see this as an opportunity to exercise their inner-comedian (I doubt Mickey Mouse from Melrose is a registered voter!), so we actually need to collect several thousand more signatures than 10,000.
I was at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow on Cape Cod last weekend gathering signatures myself and I can tell youâwarm gloves, a cup of coffee, and a good memory for your neighborsâ names are all you need! Contact Mollie the Marvelous (meikle@AndreaSilbert.com) to volunteer and read on for more news about the campaign. Thanks so much for your support!
Warmly,
Andrea

Delegateâs Dish
Leslie McDonough is a âSouthie girlâ (born and brought up in South Boston) who today lives in tiny Buckland, Massachusetts, population 1,991, located 2+ hours west of Boston. Along with her husband, Richard Purtle (originally from Roxbury), Leslie moved to rural Franklin County for its affordable housing and many social service jobs. A licensed social worker, Leslie is drawn to the beauty of this part of western Massachusetts, but also to the significant poverty she and her colleagues in social services see in the poorest county in Massachusetts.
Leslie is a first-time delegate to the state convention and an ardent Andrea supporter. âAndrea gets it!â according to Leslie. âShe is aware there is a western Massachusetts and I like the fact that she has a proven track record of supporting women and people in poverty and a proven track record of creating jobs for Massachusetts.â Leslie first met Andrea at the Franklin County Democratic picnic just last summer. âI was told there was a formidable candidate for Lieutenant Governor named Andrea Silbert that I would likeâand she was great! She was a little bitty thing, but when Andrea spoke, people turned and listened. And most important, Andrea listened to the people of Franklin County. We need to have her as our next Lieutenant Governor.â

Christy, a little while back there was someone complaining about their “friend” neing fired from your campaign. Any comment?
bob-neer says
Enough gossip. It’s just so pathetic. If DeepThroat wants to identify themselves, or you for that matter Leftisright, then maybe there is some useful discussion to be had. Otherwise, this place will wind up like the Congressional staff members: banned by Wikipedia for being infants.
leftisright says
sorry for askin, can I come out of my room now?
framinghamdem says
How is it pathetic to ask a campaign manager a campaign question????? Wouldn’t they be the perfect person to clear any negative gossip????
bob-neer says
frankskeffington says
…you Murray folks just want to throw mud. Get a life or talk about something worthwhile instead of what a drive by troll has to say. I haven’t heard a thing from DeepThroat2006 other than their bombing throwing charges and now you Murray folks just want to fan the flames. I’ve met Tim a few times, seems like a nice guy. I think he’s be pretty embarrassed by his supporters behavior on this post.
<
p>
Or do you think Tim is a mud throwing kind of guy?
politicalfeminista says
I’m sorry, but I am a tad bit confused . . .I don’t recall any mud being slung by me or any other Murray supporter on this Blog . . .and if I recall “deepthroat” stated that he/she was undecided.
<
p>
I think you just like pointing fingers at Murray folks because he seems to be the frontrunner right before your own candidate.

hoss says
Christy (if she is indeed the campaign manager) has no duty to answer. She would have more of an obligation had the allegations been leveled in the press (which a post BMG is not) and had she been asked by a reporter (which posters on BMG are not.)
<
p>
Unless she wants to – which I can’t imagine she would. (Why give credibility to an unproveable allegation? It’s the oldest rule in political communication…)
leftisright says
Bob, I can take the criticism but please at least be honest. Its not because of anonymous question it is because I questioned whoever it was you encouraged to. I could tell you John Smith here , and you would have no idea if I was truthful. How can you justify calling a question pathetic. Seriously, can I come out of my room now? Please…..
<
p>
Frank, since when is questioning a legimitate person of knowledge mudslinging? I didnjt make up the allegation Iam merely questioning it. For the record I was not asking to validate the claim I was asking to refute it. What do I care.
<
p>
Hoss, I agree she has no duty to answer, in matter of fact if there was any answer at all I would expect that it would include a statement that the campaign could not comment on it. Fine with me. YOu are right this is not the level of the press but I feel like I was treated like Helen Thomas by Bob of all people.
<
p>
Tell me its not a legimate question, tell me Im petty but come on pathetic…..gossip.
frankskeffington says
What Would Tim Do? If his campaign fired someone after one month–as stated, would he feel it was a legitimate question to bring up? Why is it a legitimate question to ask whether it’s true if a campaign (any campaign) let go a staff person after a month of employment? For me, it’s the last I hope to write about it.
worcesterdem says
and I agree with FrankSkeffington on this one. Silbert may or may not have fired someone on her campaign…can we get on with it?
<
p>
I think you only do a disservice to the campaign you are supporting when you start this type of posting and I said as much to Fieldguy a couple of weeks ago on the way he “supports” Silbert.
leftisright says
WWTD, I am sure he’d answer the question probably something like yes we had to let blah blah blah go, it’s unfortunate but it happens now can we talk about the issues, OR no that is a RUMOR going around, now can we talk about the issues? I am sure that it what Tim would do. Mudslinging…………….chuckle, chucckle, chuckle.
jimcaralis says
What are you looking for? An answer or a public discussion on whom and why this person was fired?
<
p>
Iâm going to assume you are not mudsling, but surely you realize that a public discussion is not the best way to get an answer. What are you expecting, a groundswell of support demanding an answer? That is not going to happen.
<
p>
What are you looking for?
leftisright says
that is why he asked, why are you asking me ask Frank. There already was a “public” discussion on this blog, one that I refrained from engaging. I am not expecting anything, an answer would have been nice.
frankskeffington says
…particapte in the “public discussion” in the orginal post? Instead you bring it up in a totally unrelated posting. That’s what I care about. Your comment on this post belonged in the posting where there was a “public discussion” on this onoissue. Not here. Instead you atempted to fan the flames and got shot down by Bob and now your attacking like the victim.
leftisright says
Was Christy in that forum? was there any person from that campaign in that forum? Are you suggesting that the original poster has more credibility than Christy from the Silbet campaign?
<
p>
I do appreciate your information on when and where my posts should be. I didn’t realize you were the censor.
<
p>
Who and how have I been attacking like a victim?
