PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lawrence “Lonnie” Brennan
AUGUST 9, 2006
No time for Massachusetts Soldiers?
The legislature closed its formal session by slamming the door in the face of returning Army and National Guard soliders, as they failed to find time to act on Gov. Mitt Romney’s “Welcome Home” tution support bill for our soldiers.
“Our reps can find the time to discuss and debate and wag and yell for tuition breaks for illegal immigrants, but they can’t find time to vote on tuition breaks for our returning Massachusetts heroes,” State Rep. candidate 18th Essex Lawrence “Lonnie” Brennan said. “We have soliders returning from gut-wrenching duty and our legislature closes their session. Now, our soldiers have to wait and see if the legislature will consider approving tuition support in their informal session. Has anyone up there ever thought about setting prioritites? Have they noticed that it’s August and school starts in the a few weeks?
Officials at Bridgewater State College, and other state colleges are unsure how to process National Guard tuitions, as recently reported in a Boston newspaper. “Soliders remain in limbo,” Brennan said. “That’s no way to treat our sons and daughters. This legislature needs to learn how to set priorities and respect othersBra. Leaving someone in limbo is the worst sort of insult and they should be ashamed of themselves.”
Brennan stands for sensible government. His issues are TAXES, HOUSING, HEALTH CARE, SENIORS, EDUCATION, PUBLIC SAFETY, and THE ENVIRONMENT.

that the in-state tuition bill was defeated months ago? To read your release, you’d think it passed, or at least that it was before the legislature recently. Anyway, I would wager that the tuition bill for vets will be passed in informal sessions within the next week or so.
lonnie-brennan says
David,
I also recall that school starts in Sept. Well, it’s Sept. 01, and if you’re going to pass a bill for vets, doing it BEFORE school starts is a lot nicer than AFTER school starts.
<
p>
The newspapers have done some interesting articles on returning soldiers some of the state schools, and the confusion they’re experiencing.
<
p>
I maintain: legislature had time to discuss Fluff and Basketball, but had to push a tuition bill for soldiers into informal session? Yuck.

Why is a Republican candidate posting on this website?
<
p>
Also, to the candidate: please don’t shout.
<
p>
And, what, exactly, is an “illegal immigrant?” This sort of right-wing sloganeering doesn’t sit well with me.
alexwill says
yeah, i missed that at first. I was going to comment that i agreed on this issue, but now i’m not going to bother this guy is going to attack immigrants.
lonnie-brennan says
I didn’t know someone could shout in a blog?
Must be something you’re hearing in the words.
<
p>
Not my intention.
<
p>
Why is a Republican Candidate posting on this website?
Well, why not?
Do you exclude ideas? Do you live in a bubble? No way. You’re inquisitive, you’re exchanging ideas.
<
p>
But, if you want to censor and block a Republican candidate, go for it. No biggie Michael. I just figured you might want to know there’s an alternative out there. You have a great Democratic-vote-with-the-leadership-in-the-House greater than 96% of the time person in the position now. If that makes you happy, great. If you want to consider someone else, I just tossed my info on your site.
<
p>
However, I’m not a regular blogger, so you might experience quite a delay between inquiry and response. You can always write me direct at Lonnie@lonniebrennan.com.

I took Lonnie Brennans suggestion and visited the State Rep candidates campaign website. Its full of witty slogans like, Im NRA, why arent you? Brilliant!
<
p>
The Georgetown Selectmen also asks the voters to choose a candidate who will focus on budgets. Indeed, pictures show him greeting North Andover voters on July 10 prior to their Town Meeting that would focus on their budget.
<
p>
Wasnt July 10 was also the night the Georgetown Selectmen were forced to cancel their scheduled meeting, partly because Lonnie felt it more important to campaign in North Andover than focus on Georgetown business? Shame on you Lonnie.
<
p>
My suggestion to viewers is to visit Barbara LItaliens web site and help support her re-election bid. Its scary to think there is a possibility Loony Brennan will become a representative in the State House.

Hey Pats Fan,
I know this site is full of bomb-throwers, but check your calendar again before you toss the bombs. Never missed a meeting. Never cancelled a meeting (except out of respect for our chairperson who had to check into a hospital), and even then, we only delayed by a few days routine updates. Never any action.
<
p>
I know it doesn’t matter to you. You’ll keep tossing bombs, smearing and such. Well, have it. That’s the games folks play on these blogs.
<
p>
Keep in mind, if you ever want to chat, just give me a call. I don’t hide behind anonymous names or anthing like a lot of the bloggers. Happy to discuss any item with you.
<
p>
By the way, nice to see Barbara’s voting record has great than 96% in full support of House leadership. You have a true MassBlue supporting you there. Again, if that is what you want, just keep voting for her. I have no issue with that. I’m just offering an alternative.
<
p>
Peace.

First, you tell me Ive got my date wrong. Then, you say a meeting was canceled because the Chairman was hospitalized. You also mention the meeting wasnt important, just updates. You would make a terrible scrambling quarterback. It only takes two Selectmen for a quorum in Georgetown and youve held several meetings without the Chair in past.
<
p>
I checked my calendar:
July 10 Special Town Meeting in North Andover
July 10 – Posted Georgetown Selectmens meeting
July 10 Lonnie outside North Andover Special Town Meeting greeting Potential voters
<
p>
Someone missing a meeting due to illness is excusable. Your absence from the meeting took planning having literature to distribute and having your campaign workers available. Just admit you were not ashamed of skipping the Selectmens meeting.
<
p>
You are the candidate running for office. Im not. Why discuss this privately when you can have this forum to defend your public record? You are trying to call your opponent a coward while dodging this issue.
<
p>
Youve stated you will retain your position as Georgetown Selectmen if elected State Representative. You also feel a State Rep. should attend every Town Board meeting in your district at least once a month and yet you miss a meeting in Georgetown to campaign in North Andover?
<
p>
It looks like MassBlue Group bloggers need more info before we come over to your side. I bet legislators Tarr-R and Hill-R are right behind LItaliens voting record.
