There are several courses of action. There’s always letters to the editor, but instead of printing the ones I send in, we get stuff like this. No, there’s no bias at the Globe at all!
A few of us could come together and write an op-ed, but that would probably be equally ignored – especially because we’re all a bunch of blogofascists. So I don’t know – what do you all think?
I’m not about to stand by and watch the Globe attempt to destroy Deval Patrick. I can raise the issue all I want, but the reality is only a small proportion of the populace even reads blogs – never mind Ryan’s Take. So, let’s get brainstorming and create an effective challenge to the Globe’s distortion.

Never pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel.

Actually, that sentiment, in various forms, is attributed to…guess who? That’s right, Mark Twain. It doesn’t appear anywhere in print, however. Some variation it, though, has been attributed to people going as far back as Theodore Roosevelt, so it’s quite old.

In any event, truth. distilled.

Too late, I noticed that there were earlier attributions. But the question is, did the earlier users of the phrase feel our pain as strongly as Bubba did?

was particularly rarefied and exquisite. He should be granted attribution on the merits of that basis alone.

Was the first attribution I heard… (Dogers manager)

I totally agree that the Glob has been lazy lately, but it just motivates me to work harder. During the canvasses I’ve been going to, I’ve had a opportunity to talk to folks directly about Deval and I’ve been sure to ask them if they had any questions or issues that they’d like to talk about.

I’ve had a fair amount of questions about Ameriquest and Coca-Cola, but when you actually talk to people and explain that Deval helped Ameriquest change their corporate practices, and helped negotiate the settlement, not to mention that he helped those who lost their jobs when Ameriquest left MA to find work with competing companies, they understand that the situation is not clear-cut as the Globe would like people to think it is.
<
p>
When I’ve talked to people who wanted to know what was up with Deval’s associating with Coca-Cola, the response is generally the same.
<
p>
Most people (not currently anti-corporate activists) are actually impressed with Deval’s business background and see it as a postitive, rather than a negative.

This is a long-winded way of saying that I don’t waste my time on the Boston Globe, because the Boston Globe doesn’t vote. I put my time and my effort into IDing actual voters. If people choose not to support my candidate, I say thanks for their time and move on to the next potential voter.

With four weeks left until the primary, the best use of our time is IDing our supporters and GOTV on primary day.

The other stuff is just the crap they throw our way as a distraction.

The Boston Globe has barley scratched the surface on Devals past. I wouldn’t anger them. They may start to print the really bad stuff soon.
susan-m says
What the hell are you talking about? If you’re going to make those kinds of accusations, you should be prepared to back them up.

Okay, we get it, you don’t like Deval Patrick. Your comment history if filled with unsubstantiated rumormongering about Deval Patrick.
<

On the plus side, you’ve learned how to spell Deval’s name, so I guess that’s progress.

Perhaps we can get the Berkshire Eagle to publish an Eastern Massachusetts edition?
hlpeary says
Deval Patrick, Tom Reilly and Chris Gabrieli are running voluntarily for Governor…all three knew what that takes, knew the scrutiny they would be under, knew they would be called to account, have their backgrounds scoured and be subject to questions fair and otherwise…that’s politics in a statewide race…

There is little sympathy for whiners in this game. It’s not the media’s fault. Let’s face it, no campaign thinks the media is fair to them. It’s up to each candidate to get their own truth out there. If the candidates can’t handle the heat of a Primary, how will they handle the Sean Healey-funded barrage that awaits the Democratic ticket come Sept. 20?

Susan M does what I do, which is answer individual’s questions about these nebulous accusations, but we need to operate on a bigger scale than one-to-one or blog readership.

We should continue to post our gripes on BMG, I think.
<

We should write Letters to the Editor of the Globe (though we might not get published).
<

We could try writing letters to the editor of the Herald, which might enjoy sniping at their rival.

But none of these are brilliant ideas. Still pondering.
