If our gifts to out-of-state campaigns are going to make a difference, they have to be counted while decisions about spending are still being made. The Netroots combined page on ActBlue is making its final push tonight, to reach $1.5 million — they’re already above $1.48M.
We’ve got our own BMG ActBlue page that has so far raised $1160, mostly for out-of-state races led by Ned Lamont in CT-Sen and Paul Hodes in NH-02. Can we get to $2000 by the end of the weekend?
I’m off to Keene tomorrow to work for Hodes along with some Franklin County (MA) Democrats — probably phonebanking as the weather forecast is not promising for canvassing. I’ll file a report when I get back.
Please share widely!

keep an eye out for Keener of NH-02 Progressive – I’m pretty sure he’ll be phonebanking for Hodes, too.

But I don’t know what he looks like or his real name so I’m not sure.

We had about 15 volunteers from MA working out of the Cheshire County Democratic headquarters. I called people in Swanzey and Dublin — a list that I think was everyone except households with only Republicans. Generally there was a mixture of strong support for Hodes and general hostility to phonebanking, with only a few people saying they were for Bass.

We were calling for both Hodes and state Senate candidate Molly Kelly, who is in one of the the closest races this year for the influential NH Senate. New Hampshire is an small place — when I mentioned Kelly one woman said “Oh, yes, Molly, [..]’s mom!” and several said they knew Hodes, Bass, Kelly, or Eaton (Kelly’s opponent) personally. One said she was a family friend of Bass but might vote for Hodes anyway…

The phonebanking was being run by Hodes’ Cheshire County campaign director, along with some people from the Kelly campaign. I was interested to find the both the “pros” I talked to were just out of college and had found their positions through ads on the Internet — in one case Emily’s List and in another the Bayh organization. But they seemed to have the job well in hand.

I’ve already voted absentee in MA, so I believe I will spend Election Day in Keene doing whatever the Hodes campaign needs.

got markedly worse today, because Republican robocalls started hitting. So until now, it’s been pretty much Hodes alone in the field. Now that Bass, some iteration of the national Republican party, and possibly some national Dem organization, are all making calls, people are starting to get fed up. Unfortunately, it’s important work to do even if it’s no fun. (That little pep talk was for me.)

I know that the Hodes campaign loves to get help with this stuff, and both Keene and Nashua should be convenient to some significant number of people in Mass…

I look like this (sorry, only picture I have available):

Were you sitting behind the two computer stations?
(behind Alex and Seren?) or did they have you in one of the back rooms.

on Sat 28 October, then holding a sign at Ward 2 Keene all day on election day. Were you at the party on Eagle Court on Tuesday night? I was there, but so were a lot of other people.

One more thing I noticed in Keene was a visibility by Swing The Vote at the intersection of routes 10 and 12. Their signs said “Stop War, Stop Bass” — the last newsletter I got from them said that their signs to that effect in public places were getting taken down by Bass people (or having Bass signs placed obscuring them). Good for them, being out in some rather nasty weather.

I worked for Swing The Vote in 2004, because it was the first opportunity I found to work for Kerry in NH. Actually they are a PAC that is registered to work not for Democrats but against Bush — they have many people who think
Nader was the best candidate in 2000, but who have decided that stopping Bush is their first priority.

Still $1160 on the BMG ActBlue page — any takers? And Laura is right — the people in Keene are set up to use lots of volunteers next weekend and on election day (this Hodes campaign page should get you in touch with them, or you could show up at 2 Eagle Court, Keene).
