Favorite Crumbling Bridge & Anti-Muffy Visibility (WITH POLL)

October 6, 2006 By Pablo

As I was driving home on Route 2, I looked up at a rusty, corroded bridge.  Ugly.  If you’re driving east from Route 128, it’s the first bridge in Lexington.

Here’s a cheap visibility option.  Stand on the bridge during morning rush with a sign:

THIS RUSTED BRIDGE

Neglected by Romney-Healey.

The bridge in Peabody where Rte 95 crosses over Rte 62….they have black netting draped under the bridge to catch the  falling pieces of concrete and stone and keep them from going through the windshields of cars as they drive under the bridge…

Perhaps in the commerical version instead of the traditional “paid for by the Healey/Hillman committee”,  it ends with “not paid for by Mitt Romney and Kerry Healey.

Bridget Clary’s death is because of cuts in local aid.  Forget about the failed override; why was that necessary?  Our local aid has been eviscerated and the Gloucester has cut and raised fees and done what it could (before you start, I’m not saying we did things perfectly or couldn’t have done things better, but Bridget’s death is in Healey’s column).  Ok, now tell me how I’m irresponsible, etc.

PS My parents, who are in their seventies, live two minutes from Bridget’s house.  This is NOT theoretical for me.

PPS And yes, we all voted for the override.

Not a crumbling bridge story, but close…

In 2005 there was a major sewage leak right at the Lake Quinsigamond bridge between Worcester and Shrewsbury. It’s the middle of summer, I just got my new -used- car and I’m cruisin’ like a baller on my lunch break from work.

    <

    p>
Suddenly, as I’m about to cross the bride into Shrewsbury, I catch a whiff of warmed death, dirty diapers, and all else nasty. I wonder what it could be…

    <

Turns out, reduced local aid has directly resulted in a major sewage leak that police are letting us DRIVE through, since this is the best route between the cities. So basically, I rolled my nice clean car through raw sewage almost up to the doors.

I’d have liked that in the heat of election season. HEALEY/ROMNEY SUPPORTS COMMUTES IN RAW SEWAGE!

In a figurative sense we already knew this from her ads.
