I called WTKK yesterday. The host (he was substituting for Michael Graham) was talking about governatorial debate and said he wants to hear from one person who thinks there was a reason why Grace Ross should be in the debate. I called, and got through. Here’s what I said (or tried to say – I probably botched it worse than Sen.Kerry could):
First, let me tell you that I think Grace Ross is a loony. That having being said, I think she absolutely has the right to participate in the debate. We live in a two-party country and, face it, after this election we’ll be living in a one-party state. We need more ideas to choose from. There are fine third-party and independent candidates running – there’s Jill Stein of Green-Rainbow party running for Secretary of State, Rand Wilson of Working Families Party running for Auditor. I encourage everyone to vote for these candidates so that their parties get a major-party status. Otherwise, you get a Republican attack bulldog and a Democrat who just smiles back doing nothing.
The host actually agreed with me and mentioned that he, too, thinks Jill Stein is a great candidate.
