I don’t have time to closely read these two divergent articles from American Thinker, but I figured I would throw it out here as food for thought.
Mitt Romney: A Massachusetts Liberal for President
Inching ever closer to a presidential run, the former CEO and outgoing Governor of Massachusetts is emerging as the Barack Obama of the GOP. And the analogy is apt. He has the resonant voice, the good looks, the statesman-like bearing and, going Obama two better, great hair and unobtrusive ears.
But Romney shares another commonality with Obama: He’s a liberal in his party masquerading as something more palatable. Yes, sugar and spice and dealing the deck twice, that’s what little politicians are made of.
Mitt Romney: A Leader for America
America will face some serious and complex problems in the next administration: social security, Medicare, health care, sustainable energy, the continuing war on terrorists, advancing and supporting democracy in the Middle East, and a host of other foreseen and unforeseen issues. We need a leader who has a proven record of tackling big problems and solving them. That man is former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
amicus says
Boo Hiss. In the 1994 race against Kennedy, NARAL slammed Romney for being anti-choice (don’t take my word for it, look it up) and vastly more commentators on BMG and other blogs have noted that Romney is too socially conservative for Massachusetts. Romney a liberal?? Heh.
peter-porcupine says
Know what they base his alleged pro-choice stance on? The 2002 GOP platform, which the candidate doesn’t write or ratify. I told him in an email – you got a gripe with Mass GOP, have at us, but you can’t hang this around HIS neck as a demonstration of being inconsistent.

Likewise, the slam for appointing only 25% GOP’s to the bench – I reminded him that in Mass., a judicial candidate must pass muster with the 100% Dem governor’s council, and expressed amazement that he had done THAT well!

And so on.

I have yet to hear back from Selwyn, but I urge BMG members to read the source article, and not these excerpts. You won’t AGREE with him more, but you might think he’s who he says he is. Not that you would be particularly impressed with THAT, but he IS honest.
