Fake Obama Ad — Breaking News

March 22, 2007 By chimpschump

Just caught a quip on Fox re: the Youtube Obama Ad. First, it is a rip-off from an old Superbowl ad, ran, I THINK, for Apple Computer. Second, it is a fake. Third, the guy who put it together and posted it was employed, until a couple of hours ago, by the company who actually MADE the real Obama ads. They FIRED him, even though he claims he did the work on his own time and equipment.

Barak will probably make hay out of it, anyway!

This has been hashed over repeatedly. It’s not breaking news and actually some of your facts are wrong to begin with. (The company in question has worked with the Obama campaign but did nothing “creatively” for them – ie I assume they did no ads. This at least was the way it was reported on Obermann last night.)

And we already knew a long time ago that it was a reuse of the old Superbowl ad, who it was for, etc.

No offense, was this really appropriate for a whole diary?

…it’s funny that Faux News would now label something as being “breaking” that apparently “broke” several days ago.

RAJ the “CUME” is the total # of channel surfers that turn on CNN and basically turn them off my friend.

            <

            p>
I can’t imagine the FOX news network wanting to trade THEIR “Nielsen Rating” for CNN’s “CUME” that is crazy.

            <

            p>
FOX is the best…. and it is typical for the loser of any contest to complain and search high and low for a consolation prize.  Keep your “CUME” fellas FOX just wants to be the best.

Nielsen began compiling ratings for television nationally beginning in 1950. Prior to that year, television ratings were compiled by a number of other sources, including C. E. Hooper and Variety. Today, Hooper is barely remembered; the company was bought out by Nielsen in February 1950.

I think this is the term that explains the amazing phenomenon you describe.  What remains yet to be determined is whether the speed of informational transfer screeches to a near halt at the megacity/hinterland boundary, or at the silico/ocular boundary.  Studies are in progress…

Laurel, latest theory (from Hahvahd, of couhse) is that it screeches to a near halt at the FlatIron Mountains…Research is, of course, ongoing. We are particularly interested in the obviously Relativity of the Speed of Light’s influence on the enrolling of dogs and dead people upon the voter rolls of the good City of Seattle in the recent Christine Gregoir “election.”
