We have recently started a Draft Gore 08 site on You Tube. It features a simple video asking Gore to run for office. The purpose of the site is to intensify our growing voice and give a face to our movement. WE ARE ASKING ALL AL GORE SUPPORTERS TO GO TO THIS LINK http://youtube.com/p… AND PLEASE LEAVE VIDEO COMMENTS AND TEXT ASKING AL GORE TO PLEASE RUN FOR OFFICE. The more hits this site gets the more it will be in the public eye and featured on the cover page of You Tube. PLEASE ALSO FORWARD IT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND ASK THEM TO DO THE SAME. Thanks! -Kerry

There are a lot of reasons why a Gore candidacy makes sense, despite his reticence on the subject. Al Gore has been working for legitimacy in politics and for responsibly dealing with global warming for a long time. Many speculate that he has been reticent up until now about his interest in the presidency for two reasons–he has his doubts about the efficacy of the campaign process and because he would disqualify himself from eligibility for the Nobel Peace Prize.
These are legitimate reasons to hold off. This is a brutally long race; there’s no reason to enter before it’s time.

Gore’s time may be soon. The Nobel will be announced this Friday. If he wins it, it will cap a year of extraordinary successes–an Emmy for his TV channel, an Oscar for his movie, a book that hit the bestseller list and which, if you haven’t read it, is a fantastic dissection of what has happened to our democratic architecture of checks and balances since Nixon. It’s a must-read for anyone who cares about what it means to be an American citizen.

I was out gathering signatures recently to put Gore on the Massachusetts primary ballot. Tons of people were interested, but there were a few who hesitated, wondering, “Is he even interested?”

The fact that he hasn’t told the Draft Gore Movement to stop (as he did in 2003) is proof that he has not shut the door on running. It does mean, however, that he likely needs to be persuaded. I think it can happen, but Gore needs to see that he has support.

So, if you want Gore to run, you need to act now. Get out there and find a way to participate.
