The seat has been open since Michael Festa was appointed by Governor Patrick to the serve as the Secretary of Elder Affairs. After leaving office, Festa also threw his support behind Clark’s bid to fill his seat.
Katherine Clark lives in Melrose with her husband Rodney and their three sons. Katherine was elected to the Melrose School Committee in November 2001 and served as Chairman for three terms. An attorney with 18 years in public service, Clark most recently served as Chief of Policy and Government for Attorney General Martha Coakley.
On Tuesday, February 5th she was elected as the Democratic Nominee to fill the vacant 32nd Middlesex Representative seat.

There is a reason that Gov. Patrick, Sec. Festa and people from across the spectrum are supporting Katherine…she will be an a great State Rep! I served with Katherine on the Melrose School Committee and she demonstrated the ability to lead, build consensus and get through some pretty tough fiscal times. This experience will serve her well representing the people of Melrose and Wakefield.

I’m sure Deval conducted another “nationwide’ search for this job. But people are ignoring that Deval has created vacancies by giving state rep’s high paying jobs to get their high three.

p>Folks can just fawn over Deval’s actions. Regardless of what he does. Special elections cost money, but at least MCs have something to hope for.
