Hillary Clinton proves that she really is a Yankee fan

February 4, 2008 By pride-of-new-haven

Clinton has gotten a rap for being a flip-flopping fairweather Yankee fan.

But, today, after the Super Bowl, she proved her critics wrong.

There is no doubt she is a Yankees fan.

Because she can gloat like one.

Clinton made the hubristic remarks onboard the press plane.

Patrick Healy has the details.

Before taking off to New York late Sunday night, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton hailed the New York football Giants and made a few quips about Senator Barack Obama and the people of Massachusetts, who vote on Feb. 5.

Told that Mr. Obama was supporting the Patriots – the home team of his supporters Edward M. Kennedy, John Kerry, and Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, Mrs. Clinton grinned and said, “Hm, I wonder why.”

Okay, so far so good.

And reminded that she had two campaign stops in Massachusetts on Monday, she said: “They can redeem themselves on Tuesday – they can vote for a winner.“

Are you kidding me?  She might as well have spiked the ball in Tom Brady’s face.

Because, you know, Tom Brady isn’t a winner.

Then again, neither is Derek Jeter.

but honestly, this is just stupid.  it’s not even ha ha funny.  and by “this” i mean giving a crap about who likes which “home town” team of mega millionaires all dressed in matching spandex.  if you think any politician is fickle about which team s/he supports, just wait until your star player is offered a few mil more from some other franchise.  chump talk – it annoys me! (nothing personal, Pride in NH…)

I am a Yankee fan, and I think politicians also like to watch the sports just like everybody.

DUH……. would probably be safe to say from all the hype that other than the 5 1/2 New England states the other 45 1/2 States (discounting half of Connecticut as a suburb of the big apple) pulled for the Giants. The analogy we should take away is worrying after all the Hype will Obama Choke in the big game.

But that won’t put them on the other side of the Hudson River.

p>The only NY team plays in Buffalo, and even they’re trying to have half their home games played in Canada.

Of the Giants 80+ year existence, they
            (a) first played in New York, in 1925
            (b) played about 50 years in New York [Polo Grounds, Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium]
            (c) played 2 years in Connecticut
            (d) have played their most recent 31 years in New Jersey.

            <

p>Personally, I’ve always thought that NYC should give the proverbial finger to NJ for taking away their most famous lady by building a football stadium for the Giants and Jets in Brooklyn, rendering the Meadowlands to be simply the most expensive burial grounds for a mafia boss in world history.

            <

p>And the Bills are not trying to have “half their home games played in Canada.”  The current plan is 5 regular season games and 3 pre-season games [8 total] over a span of five years.

How arrogant. Is there anybody in her camp who cringes when she patronizes people like this? Or do they just smile and go along? This was a bad move on her part. Pats fans are super-fanatic and she just poured salt in the wound like a 2nd grader. Low class.

p>At least John Kerry’s remark in 2004 about how much he liked the Red Sox and “Manny Ortez” made people laugh.

Kerry would be up there tonight crowing about the Sox, the Pats and Obama, “and how about that Tom Grady?” đŸ™‚

p>maybe he should worry more about Watertown and Gloucester, from the caucus results …nice job, Sco

You created a hypothetical situation, put words into Kerry’s mouth, and then criticized him for saying them?

He indicated that Kerry didn’t say it before he suggested that Kerry would say it.

        <

p>Kerry deserves unending ridicule for the Manny Ortez thing, so this comment, while trivial, is his just due.

but I think it’s hard to claim that the Pats are winners today. I mean, they just lost. You did watch the game before clutching at those straws, didn’t you?
