Press Coverage of the 23rd Middlesex Race: It is good to see a real race

February 28, 2008 By AmberPaw

Here it is:

1.  Globe Northwest, 2/28/08:

2.  Arlington Advocate – equal length stories on ALL three candidates:

I have been supporting Sean Garballey, and continue to do so –  going back to a hotly contested Democratic Primary.  However, I think the system is better and more honest when there is a true contest of ideas between Democrats, Republicans, and yes, independents like Robert Valeri.  Governance is the better for competition.

You may think it’s good to have a real race.

    <

p>In this district, where being the Democratic nominee, is usually an express ticket to the statehouse, a real race advertises the weakness of the Democratic candidate.

    <

p>This is Jim Marzilli’s seat.  There’s lots of Democrats voting for Worden with hopes of getting a more qualified candidate in November.

    <

    p>WORDEN in MARCH
    a good DEMOCRAT in NOVEMBER

who REALLY thinks the best way to a more progressive statehouse is give the republicans a free seat in the 23rd?

Elect the little lamb, soon to be the pet of DeMasi and the lobbyists, and you won’t have a progressive for very long.  Better to get someone with a backbone and some experience.

look at romney and mccain for example.  two mature aged guys, neither of which have the backbone to stick by their convictions two campaigns in a row. (“honorable” veteran mccain’s recent vote that would allow the cia to continue using torture really, really disgusts me.  just i though you should know.)

The stories may be equal, but the endorsement was for the Republican.  In Arlington.  Pretty bad when a Republican is competitive in Arlington.
