Bill Richardson endorses Barack Obama

March 21, 2008 By Alex W.

Great endorsement pick up for Obama! I haven’t seen any one post it here yet but I saw it first at Blue Hampshire but there’s more at the NYT and Bill Richardson’s letter to his supporters is up at this Obama blog

i think perhaps a looser.  everyone knows righardson is a skilled statesman and diplomat, but he did so poorly in the debates and polls that i don’t think he would actually add anything to the ticket in terms of biting into the indie and republican electorate.  that would take a military person like wesley clark.

but I would still rather see a woman on the ticket somehow, but I am not sure who.

p>If the Obama and Clinton campaigns keep clawing at each other until the convention, it is hard to see how they can convincingly put away the bitterness and end up on the same ticket, but perhaps that is still a possibility. I think that if Clinton dropped out now and the two campaigns made a concerted effort to reconcile, I could see it happening, but that does not seem very likely.

that politicians are famous for verbally duking it out in the most strenuous terms on the senate or house floor, then going out for fun, dinner and drinks after work.  i think clinton has this capacity to separate the political from the personal.  i bet obama does too.

I agree that it is likely that Obama and Clinton can and will forgive each other for things said on the campaign trail. The issue is whether they can convince the rest of America of that. The longer the fighting goes on, the harder it will be, but nothing is impossible.

Adding Richardson to the ticket would turn it from an election campaign to a gaffe-a-thon giving Obama even more things to disavow on a regular basis.
