Interesting story, I was talking to my aunt today who told me about a famous uncle back in the old country. He was a farmer who living in Russian controlled Lithuania in the 1830’s. Like most people in his country and in his class, he became sick and tired of having no freedom and more or less being a slave. He would watch his country man and woman conscripted into service only to end up fighting their brothers and sisters. Meanwhile the aristocrats lived in extreme wealth and had no regard for the common man. So much that they used to spit on them in the streets. He saw the life of agony that this system of poverty and oppression meant and decided to do something about it.
In 1831, he and others all over Europe got sick and tired of the system of slavery they lived in and fought back. After hearing this I said, “Wish people in this country were like that”. Then I read an article about Cindy McCains $313,100 dress she wore at the RNC. Like you I was sickened, to think the potential first lady was wearing a dress that costed more then a home. Meanwhile, over 84,000 people have lost their jobs, and many many more are losing their homes. To think her dress could have bought a home for a working class stiff like myself.
I started to think about the story my aunt told me and wondered why is it that back in those days people actually cared. I think the amount of money Cindy McCain paid for her dress shows how out of touch she is with the rest of us. It shows that we clearly live in a class society where most of us are modern day serfs like the uncle I spoke of.
For those of you unaware with the year 1831, look it up, its very similar to our time today. Back then, people were sick and tired of their meager existence having no freedom, no respect, no money. They were garbage in the eyes of the elite and realized that the only way out of that life was through courage and being willing to sacrifice.
If anything, the thought of someone buying a $313,100 dress is a rally call for all Americans to follow in our ancestors footsteps and stand up. I personally feel that history has allot to teach us, unfortunately history seems to be repeating itself. We have a new era of out of touch oligarchs who have no regard for anyone except themselves. They view the average person as disposable swine, so much that they allow us to live in poverty and have the nerve to send our families to die for their wealth.
Maybe its about time we as Americans read up about the revolutions of our ancestors and realize that now is the time to have courage to stand up to the new era of oppressors.

the dress was only worth about $3,000. It was the three-carat diamond earrings (approximate value $280,000) that put the value of the outfit over $300K.

p>I’m sure you feel much better now!

And McCain is calling the black guy from Chicago and elitist!
johnd says
How much was Michelle Obama’s dress? How much did Teresa Heinz spend on her jewelry at the 2004 DNC? How about Edwards haircuts? What did Kobe Bryant pay for his wife’s diamond ring when he dipped his pen in the wrong place? Do you live in a $1.8 million mansion like Obama or does your family have a compound like the Kennedys?
<
p>Borisevicius617 should get his fats together before he assaults Cindy McCain on her dress being off by an order of magnitude. Let me try it… can you believe Obama made $42Million in 2007? With all that money he must be an elitist!!
pablo says
Let me count. Seven houses and his wife’s outfit costs more than my condo.
<
p>I am more than happy to contest this election based on the issues (unlike the Republicans), but when McCain & Fiends start calling the black guy from the south side of Chicago an elitist, I can’t let that pass without notice.
johnd says
Where you come from has nothing to do with it, NOR does how much money you make NOR does how many houses you own. I noticed you didn’t answer my other questions… typical.
tblade says
$4.2 million.
<
p>And according to John McCain, that keeps Obama under the threshold for middle class.
<
p>And WTF does Kobe Bryant have to do with this? I know! Let’s connect Obama to the big Black basketball star that had sex with that little White girl. “Decent, hard working” Americans don’t stand for those types.

Borisevicius617 wrote a lovely post about Cindy McCain’s dress costing $300,000 vs. the $3,000 that it REALLY cost. So I was telling him to get his facts straight otherwise I could mistakenly say Obama makes $42Million instead of the $4.2 million (not bad) that h made in 2007. That waas your first ERROR!!!
<
p>The second was when I asked (relative to Cindy’s dress, diamond ring…) why nobody asked now much Michelle Obama’s dress cost at the DNC or Kerry’s wife at the 2004 DNC or how there wasn’t much public outrage with Kobe’s wife’s ring nor does anyone bemoan Obama’s $1.8M mansion or the Kennedy compound. Just a case of “selective” outrage at a Republican’s wealth (which they earned BTW) vs. Democrat’s wealth which is just nifty with your crowd.
