What exactly are Sarah Palin’s accomplishments? (Honestly?)

I asked this question in a thread 24 hours ago and received no response.  Although I suspect that the question may have been too challenging for some McCain/Palin apologists, I concede the benefit of the doubt and chalk up the absence of answers to my question being overlooked because it was buried in a 91-comment thread.

So here’s your chance, GOP fans! Please answer these direct questions: what are Sarah Palin’s accomplishments*  and what are so special about them?

There is ample space provided below and no word limit. Responders are encouraged to be specific and provide support for their claims. Warning: rhetorical questions, changes of subject, and logical fallacies may be ridiculed mercilessly.

*Besides being pro-life – it’s not so much an accomplishment as a position.

  1. You heard the PTA-Mayor-Governor progression, right?  Getting elected to anything is an accomplishment, let alone
    getting elected Governor.  And then earning 85% approval ratings while proving to be effective and smart and hardworking and respectful.  Did she have a Caddy/drapes/book period where articles were being written about how little she’s been able to accomplish?

  3. She has “the power of the normal”, like Jimmy Carter did.  Governor of a small state, no committment to want-her-to-be’s in Washington.

    p>Genuine and different: a welcome perspective if change is to be more than a slogan.

    p>Sitting Governor, former mayor, with more political experience than Massachusetts’ own governor.

    p>Social views that coincide with 50% (give or take) of the population of the United States.

    p>Energetic, smart, enthusiastic and publicly poised.  Damning by faint praise you may say?  A high part of being a statesman or woman is the capability to stir the electorate to follow you.

    p>Experienced enough, to provoke a debate comparing her experience to that of the Democratic Presidential nominee.  Something possibly never done in the history of politics.

    p>As with senator Obama, Not enough experience to be President, but enough as a measured risk, to be heartbeat away.

      • I have a problem associating a thing that happened while a politician–democrat or republican–was in office with a politician taking credit for that thing.

        p>She successfully ran for and was elected Governor of the State.  Governor Palin was the first female Governor of Alaska.  That’s a historic accomplishment.

        p>As Governor she created the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy.

        p>She has previously chaired the Alaska Conservation Commission.

        p>She successfully was elected to public office in her town of Wasilla.  She successfully led the community of Wallisa to build a community sports complex, paid for by a tax increase and a bond issue.

        p>She commanded an sudience of 40 million viewers, and with the pressure on her, she brought down the house and raised up the contribution to the GOP such that McCain/Palin suffers no financial disadvantage to the Democratic ticket.

        p>She can shoot.  Accomplishment notwithstanding, it’s clear where she stands on the 2nd amendment.  That’s important to me.

        p>She has, while in various offices filed ethic complaints against public official, notably her own party’s Republican attorney general who later resigned.

        p>She’s raised kids.  That alone may qualify her to deal with the petulant Congress.

      p>But I am asking specifically about accomplishments. “Genuine and different” and “Energetic, smart, enthusiastic and publicly poised” are not accomplishments. Good qualities for a VP candidate to have, but they are not accomplishments.

      p>MCRD, JoeTS and a host of others have repeatedly claimed things like “Sarah Palin has accomplished more as two years as governor then Obama has in his entire life. The inference here is that the GOP ticket is so strong, that McCain can pull a no-name, two-year governor of  680,000 people and she still more qualified then the Dem nominee.

      p>I find this claim to be extraordinary. Admittedly, I skeptical of that claim given my political leanings, but for each passing opportunity given to McCain/Palin supporters where they fail to outline her accomplishments, it gives me the sense that these people are totaly unaware of one thing Palin has accomplished. Compound that with the fact that previously listed accomplishments including opposing the ‘bridge to nowhere’ and selling the state jet on Ebay for a profit have shown to be lies.

After hearing months of “Obama gives a good speech, but…”, it’s amusing to see the bullshit lines about Palin’s accomplishments when people like Joe and MCRD can’t even spend a few minutes on Google to support their hyperbolic claims.
