Kahlil Byrd with Beatty

October 30, 2008 By Steven Leibowitz

In looking at this article about Jeff Beatty’s fundraising issues, this jumped out at me:

“Just like every business, Jeff’s campaign had to throw the old assumptions out and work with new ones,” said Kahlil Byrd, Beatty’s media adviser.

At the time Byrd left Deval Patrick’s campaign, the Phoenix noted the timing was strange. I guess we can add politics making strange bedfellows. Seems odd.

He obviously is not all that proud of his current job, look how he lists it. “currently he is communications director for a US senate campaign in Massachusetts.”

    <

p>Here’s how he describes his past work:
“For the past several years, Mr. Byrd has also worked in politics: with Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, acting as communications director for his winning campaign and as the first Director of Appointments in the new administration.”

p>Now, replacing “a” with “Jeff Beatty’s” doesn’t add that many words. This looks like he wants to hide leaving Patrick’s campaign and is intentionally vague as to which Senate campaign he is on.
