I am eagerly voting YES on Question 1 AND FOR McCain-Palin. A vote FOR Question 1 is a very small step in the right direction of putting government back on the side of the people. There are other
measures to be taken: eliminate prevailing wage, repeal Pacheco Bill, etc. As for McCain-Palin, they are a very small step in the direction of putting government in its place: at the behest of the people, NOT the other way around. And now for some straight talk from Joan Vennochi: http://www.boston.com/bostongl…

This seems more like a confession of faith than a posting on a blog.

p>Joan Vennochi sounds a bit odd here, though. I cannot think of a single progressive on this blog that favors waste or taxpayer-funded boondoggles. The near universal opinion among liberals is that the Massachusetts government lacks transparency and accountability. Republicans have demonstrated that they have some skill in identifying outrages committed by Democratic Administrations and in generating the necessary outrage. What Republicans have not demonstrated is an ability at governance. That makes sense because they mostly believe good governance is impossible which is why they want less of it.
<
p>Given that, I don’t believe that the solution in Massachusetts is affirmative action for Republicans. In fact, I think the problem is lack of citizen engagement and the weakness of progressive institutions.

I am still waiting for any supporter of this question to explain how to make up for the lost revenue. All I get is hand waving.
<
p>It also seems like a spectacularly bad idea in the midst of a recession. You know how many jobs would be lost?

I look at it this way. If the state has to cut its budget by 40% because we eliminate the state income tax (according to their TV add). They are still taking another 60%. So, If you save $2,000 in state income tax, the state is still taking $3.000 out of our pockets in forms of sales tax, gas tax, excise tax, just to name a few.
<
p>Please, spare me the song and dance about cutting programs. The state needs to cut the entitlements in this state and get rid of all the corrupt politicians. The only thing is most of the people in this state are too stupid to know where the money is coming from for all these programs.
<
p> All the public giveaways are coming out of our pockets you dummies.
