Cahill under the spotlight again and under the gun With Poll!

June 10, 2009 By woburndem

Now I know that Governor Patrick appears to have made missteps and we certainly can point to his political advisors for some poor choices and serious missteps. Marion Walsh should certainly be put on Doug Rubins score card and Sal Dimasi and Cognos on David Morales Score Card. Yet Tim for Treasurer looked for the longest time as one of those up and coming fiscal moderate Democrats. I voted for Tim and even held a sign for him at the polls along with Deval’s and now I look and see just another Democrat who has shot his foot off because he is unable to follow through with his convictions. I wonder if his decision to leave the Treasures post is an attempt to get out of Dodge before it goes up in flames.

His being a no show in spirit at the Convention on Saturday was a poor choice even if he could not be there himself (yes family does come first). He missed an opportunity to connect with party activists beyond just State Committee members who rebuffed as an outsider in his bid for a national convention seat. Many of the non-state committee activists were part of the effort, which I saw as successful, in amending major parts of the platform. Certainly proof that the party has more depth then just the State Committee.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not angry with the committee just not on the same page as the group who wrote the new platform. Remember that even in disagreement you cannot fail recognize their commitment, after all elected or not they are volunteers who spend time away from family and work to do a job for no pay or benefit. On the whole I think they do it well even when I disagree with something. I have not lost any respect for the effort they all show and they deserve that respect for fulfilling a thankless job.

But the topic is Tim for Treasurer and I think he missed the boat, especially with press like this he must obviously be facing the time concern of plug another leak in his sinking ship over trying to court new support.

My suggestion is fix the boat and focus on the Treasurer Job we elected you to and learn to become a real Democrat conservative, moderate, progressive or liberal realize the depth and experience and the grass roots organizing you will need to win in a November. Do this before you go shooting your other foot off and try and running for a job you no longer have shinning white cred for.
