5 Years Ago Today – Is TV Killing Baseball?

October 27, 2009 By medfieldbluebob

Does anyone think baseball in November is somehow wrong?  Does MLB even know what the weather is like north of Florida or Arizona in November?

Baseball in November.

When I was a kid I remember watching my beloved Detroit Tigers come back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Cardinals. Why do I remember this so vividly? The games were played in the afternoon. I didn’t have to struggle to stay up after 11:00pm to watch the end of any game.

p>Baseball, a summer sport, during the day in early-to-mid October is reasonable. At night in late-October or early-November is ridiculous.

p>But TV writes the rules these days.

        1) Three complete-game wins by a pitcher in the WS (Lolich). I’d be surprised by three complete games period, both teams combined.

        <

p>2) Thirty wins in the regular season (McLain).
