But think about it:
<
p>”Global warming” implies an ever-worsening crisis that can at least be addressed, if not stopped.
<
p>”Climate change” is an evolutionary process that has always been with us and can’t (and perhaps shouldn’t) be stopped.
<
p>It’s a watering down of the concept.

Global Warming is simply less descriptive as Climate Change.
<
p>GW implies that temperatures will go up across the globe. CC implies that temperatures will change — though not upward for every single region — as well as rainfall changes, humidity changes, cloud cover changes, wind pattern changes, and so forth.
<
p>Which allows for head-in-sanders to peashoot science and allow for lame jokes about snowfall in October? Global Warming. Which is a more descriptive phrase for what scientists expect will happen? Climate Change.
and why the earth is is receiving 15% less available sunlight (on average) since WWII. The second interogatory is alleged to be the result of high flying aircraft in the starosphere and the ice crystals they produce from burning fuel—but I’m sure someone here is aware of other scientifically proveable causation.
<
p>Apparently the arctic ice sheets are far more robust than they have been in years past. Why is that?
<
p>I wonder how far an individual will allow there belief system to take them when they are deluged with fact and reality to the contrary? We are all aware of what happened in Germany in the 30’s and 40’s—even though most people knew that what they were engaged in was contrary tto everything they had learned in church as children.
<
p>That is what makes people and the power of government so worrisome and sometimes frightening. People can be convinced that outrageous statements are fact–when their common sense and historical and scientific fact prove otherwise. PT barnum understood this. So did Al Gore.

It’s apparent to me that you can’t get away from your belief system. For starters, you don’t even cite accurate facts. The “global dimming” that you keep mentioning isn’t anywhere close to 15%- more like 4%- and it’s associated with atmospheric effects, most likely due largely to particulate pollution, not the amount of sunlight at the top of the atmosphere.
<
p>And that effect, if anything, has helped to mask the warming signal. Why are you pointing out things that support the view you want to not believe?
<
p>And… let’s see, the “it’s cooling now” meme relies on using 1998 only as a baseline; the 2000’s are hotter than the 1990’s which were hotter than the 1980’s etc.
<
p>But you obviously don’t care about any of this; I point these things out only for reference to others.

Medford and Somerville plans are to converge on Boston; Concord details below also.

Boston Under Water Festival
<
p>The festival and actions will begin at 3:00 in Christopher Columbus Park, Boston (near the Aquarium). You must be there before 3:50 pm to be part of the group photo, which will involve thousands of people! We want to get the most people possible into each photo, so the people participating all over the world can be counted and announced to the world’s leaders to show that we all want them to act on climate change, in a major way. Join the world in asking for 350 ppm atmospheric CO2 targets at the December Copenhagen climate talks.
<
p> * Race to build a sandbag wall (for the 3:50pm group photo!)
* Canoe relay races
* Enjoy the new waterfront: Play crab soccer, toss a beach ball!
* Participatory climate theater
* Find out more about climate change in Boston at the Flooding Station
* Make some climate flags for your bikes and cars
* Sign some cards and call your reps at the Life-Saving Station
<
p>There are several groups going downtown from our area. To accommodate both the people who bike AND those who don’t, I propose a two-stage plan:
<
p>1. Bikers from Medford and East Arlington, meet at Whole Foods, Medford, at 1:30, leave at 1:45 to bike, either to Davis Square or downtown (your choice)
<
p>2. Non-bikers meet the T riding group at Davis Square Somerville (probably will gather around 2:00pm and will leave about 2:30pm)
<
p>3. Bikers closer to Prospect Hill, Somerville: Meet at Prospect Hill Park at 1:30, ride downtown starting at 2:00 pm
<
p>Details of the Boston Under Water Festival:
<
p>WHERE: Christopher Columbus Park, Downtown Boston Aquarium T Stop (blue line)

p>WHEN: 3:00 – 5:30. To join a group departing from your community via bike or T, email 350Boston@gmail.com.
<
p>PHOTO AT 3:50PM

p>HOW: Wear water gear & dress in blue!

<
p>Concord Rally at Old North Bridge
<
p>A very large, well organized Regional Energy Revolution Rally will take place at the Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts USA — site of the opening battle of the American Revolution of 1775. We invite all concerned citizens to participate in this historic event. MCAN Executive Director Rob Garrity will be Master of Ceremonies. The Concord event has more than 25 communities planning to participate.
<
p>When: 2 pm Saturday, October 24, Rally opens with speakers; “Pull for The Planet” at 3pm; Group Photo at 3:15pm
<
p>Where: Minute Man National Park, adjacent to the North Bridge Visitor Center at 174 Liberty St. Concord 01742.
(Meet at the flag pole, about 100 yards south of the visitor center. Map at http://www.nps.gov/mima/planyourvisit/directions.htm)
<
p>This will involve at least 23 communities. Get more information about that event and many others occurring around Massachusetts, by going to the MCAN website here.
