Marjorie Decker Withdraws from State Senate race

March 1, 2010 By kathy

With seven candidates vying for Gooch’s old seat and with four Cantabridgians in the race, she made a wise decision. She’s young and has a great political future. Best wishes to Marjorie!

Excerpt:

Cambridge – Cambridge City Councilor Marjorie Decker has decided to withdraw from the race for state Senate, according to an e-mailed press release.

“In good conscience, I cannot ask my family, friends and supporters to give more time, effort and financial support if there is no realistic prospect of success,” said Decker in the press release.

I’m usually way more decisive. All the candidates have bright political futures ahead no matter what happens.

I know this is a short race with a lot of candidates, but I would think this is a little early to be dropping out. I was looking forward to hearing more from everybody! So what happened? Was it a lack of money or momentum? Both?

      From the linked article:

“I took another look at the race and there were three times the amount of candidates running since first entered,” she said. “Four candidates out of Cambridge makes it nearly impossible.”
