This is likely to be a close election. To win this seat, it is absolutely essential that we have a strong and efficient Election Day operation throughout the district. Please consider volunteering with us all day on Tuesday, May 11. Whether you live in the district or not, we will find a way for you to get involved. You can sign up here.
Our voter contact efforts are producing an incredibly positive response. Although Scott Brown has represented this district for the past few years, voters in this area are known for being extremely independent-minded–they don’t vote on partisanship. I’m reaching out to as many voters as I can to prove that I’m a progressive who will stand up for their values and listen to their concerns.
Scott Brown and conservative special interest groups are pouring resources into the district, but they are no match for our phenomenal grassroots volunteer base. Sign up here to join us on Election Day:
Thank you so much again for your support, and we hope to see you on Tuesday. Together, we can turn this district from Brown to blue.
Sincerely,
Peter Smulowitz
P.S. Please check out this diary from one of our amazing volunteers!

that Johnny Reason is extremely unlikely to be one of those who wants to vote for Dr. Smulowitz.

Some others of us aren’t at all interested in voting for you and are merely here to stir up the muck. Please ignore.

But want to put up videos that they think are unflattering in order to throw sand in the wheels of your campaign.
<
p>Unfortunately, what people like that forget is the number one rule of politics: it doesn’t matter what they say about you, so long as they spell your name right.
<
p>Every comment on this thread swells the number of comments in the top line (which is all most people see anyway: only a tiny fraction of BMG readers click through to the extended section of posts) and build up Dr. S’s campaign.
<
p>Volunteer for GOTV per above, and thanks Johnny for the unintended support! You never fail to amuse.

Why are you still focused on this? There was a correction in the Needham Times the next day –
Smulowitz: I spoke to Harkins on election night

p>Prior to being elected to the Legislature, Harkins served six years on the Needham School Committee and directed a collaborative vocational training program for 13 towns in the Metrowest area. She is also a former elementary school teacher.
<
p>Harkins serves in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as the Representative from the 13th Norfolk District. This district comprises the towns Needham, Dover and Medfield. Harkins was first elected in 1989, and has been the House Majority Whip since 2001.[1] Her priorities include public education, improving health care access, and generating economic development.

p>Harkins was appointed House Majority Whip by former Speaker of the House Thomas Finneran in 2001. Before her appointment, she served as the Assistant Majority Whip and the House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Education Arts and Humanities. Harkins has also served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology, the House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Commerce and Labor, Co-Chairman of the bi-partisan Women’s Caucus and as a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and Public Safety. She has also chaired the Special Education Study Commission created in the 1997 state budget and the Special Commission that reformed and restructured the School Building Assistance Program

For the incompetent spelling in the title and the cut and paste job in the body. Also the complete lack of relevance and interest.

Peter took a risk attacking Rep. Harkins in the Democratic Primary. While it paid off in the primary, it remains to be seen if the backlash in the final is real.
<
p>Winning the battle and losing the war isn’t a great strategy. But then you aren’t in the war if you lose the battle. And who knows what next November brings. IMO, Peter didn’t cover himself in glory with misleading attacks on Lida.
<
p>Let’s see what the people who matter (re: voters in the District) think of the strategy.

That’s the decision now. All else is sour grapes.

My wife and I would ordinarily vote for you, the more liberal and progressive voice in the race. But after the Karl Rove-style political assassination that you performed on state Rep. Lida Harkins, you can’t be serious if you expect ALL Dems to give you a pass against that idiot Republican, Richard Ross.
<
p>No, we won’t vote for the idiot, but we can’t vote for the hypocrite and fraud either.
<
p>You see, at some point very soon, we will discover that you took a campaign contribution from someone who has been arrested and convicted of some crime. It may be a misdemeanor, a felony, and they may have even served jail time.
<
p>At that point, you will have to explain to people — your friends, family and acquaintances (if not your constituents) — why you are not corrupt. Why you are not a crook. Why you are not simpatico with the criminal whose campaign contribution you accepted and pocketed.
<
p>You can’t have it both ways, Peter. You can’t accuse others of the same alleged crimes, character deficiencies and other shortcomings when the proof may already exist within your own your campaign contributor list that you are one and the same with those whom you vilify.
<
p>No, we’re blanking the race. But you ought to get down on your hands and knees and give thanks that there are enough politically-correct liberals and progressives on BMG who don;t have the courage to hold you to the same exact standard that they held Harkins.

Proudlib has never supported any liberal, liberal cause, or liberal sentiment on this site ever.
<
p>The only things possibly liberal about him or her are the stories of past fealty to liberalism.
<
p>And, IMHO, there is no reason to believe those stories

Having just watched that video, it is amazing how shallow and immature he is in not being able to reach out to Harkins. Does anyone imagine our late Sen. Kennedy being so petty? Smulowitz is all soundbite and no substance. He is a petty, vindictive, immature person. If he can’t reach out to a fellow Dem, how’s he going to reach out to a Repub colleague when coalition-building is necessary. Frankly, he comes off as a jerk. Even the politically-correct moonbats ought to be angry over the political immaturity Smulowitz. Thank God we’re blanking the race!
