It’s been a while since I wrote one of these updates, and there have been a number of changes that I wanted to call to your attention.
- “Recent posts” page. A number of you (especially in this very useful thread) mentioned that you found useful a page that lists all recent posts in reverse chronological order, regardless of front-page, recommended, or other status. You’ve got it! The “recent posts” link now appears in the menu right below the masthead.
- Faster load time. We’ve isolated and eliminated a number of factors that were slowing down the time it took to load the page. Some were WordPress features, others were external (like the Facebook widget). Now that they are gone, the page is loading much, much faster.
- Permanent login. A couple of bugs were preventing the system from keeping users logged in after they closed their browser or rebooted their computers. The bugs have been squashed, so you should now stay logged in until you choose to log out.
- Improved “Recommend” function. When you open up a post on the “Recommended” list, you can now see who its recommenders are. Also, you can now unrecommend a post that you have previously recommended, and you can no longer recommend your own posts.
We are continuing to work on additional fixes, as well as new features that will take us out of “as good as Soapblox” mode and into “stuff Soapblox couldn’t do” mode. We are looking forward to that!
Meanwhile, do keep sending us feedback. We are listening.
Please share widely!

As it is difficult for us to collect this kind of data on our own. Thanks, BMGers!

What sort of “stuff-soapblox-couldn’t-do” stuff are you planning on doing? Sounds intriguing.

Any link to a mobile version of the site for smartphones? Old version did, although it didn’t play exactly nice with my Blackberry.
Charley on the MTA says
for the moment, try searching for Blue Mass. Group through Google, then click the link. I don’t have a “smart” phone — Verizon’s lousy old browser is what I have — but Google somehow optimizes through their links, at least to the point I can read it.

… on my iPod Touch (same Safari app as the iPhone) and I got the non-mobile version.

learn how to insert the “more” tag (continue off of main page) into our posts after the lede grafs.
It’s an option in the toolbar that is over the edit window.
BTW BMG still loads slowly for me.
