You can’t make this stuff up. Julian Assange is upset about an unauthorized release of drafts of his autobiography:
Mr Assange said in a statement: “The events surrounding its unauthorised publication by Canongate are not about freedom of information.
“They are about old-fashioned opportunism and duplicity – screwing people over to make a buck.”
He said Canongate had acted in breach of contract and personal assurances that the draft would not be released without his permission.
Priceless.
Please share widely!

We can’t fairly compare stuff taken from an individual to stuff taken from governments acting in public on our behalf.
But yes, a tad ironic.
centralmassdad says
does that mean that Wikileaks was wrong when it targeted private corporations? Assange was bragging a year ago that he had a lot of data from Bank of America.
JimC says
Or are you using the Mitt Romney “Corporations are people too” standard?
tedf says
I think he means, “owned by private shareholders” rather than “owned by the public.” A “public company” is just one whose shares are publicly traded.

I was dodging. I don’t want to parse every Wikileak action. My feelings are mixed at best.

Please then watch these two videos, it will catch you up on some of Wikileaks history and show you what their goals are.

I don’t care what their goals are. What matters are their actions, and (to me) the record appears mixed. They’ve done some good, no question.

Businesses effect other people which means they are rightfully subject to scrutiny.
Remember Wikileaks does not gather information on it’s own.
It is given information by people who do feel they witnessed a wrong doing.
These people do not get paid for their information, nor are they given credit.

Bank of America is a business.
A Business Affects other people.
And Bofa is a corporation traded on the stock market and is required to disclose things.
tedf says
… just not my information.
But I take your point.

So you’re whipping out pop song videos on this info and discussion blog.
Here’s my pick. Not viral. Hundreds of likes. ZERO dislikes.
Thank you Alaniss Morissette and Thomas P. Conroy for visiting the Philippines. For visiting the Philippines, I follow Conroy to Dennis of our Cape Cod.
I am glad we have a leader who stands up to casinos. Casinos are not a twenty-first century idea. Jobs will go to building Massachusetts casinos, but a good deal of Massachusetts gamblers will continue to patronize Connecticut casinos instead, where they can smoke cigars and cigarettes inside.
Conroy is right on in stating that construction workers, pipe-fitters and other skilled middle-class workers are better off restoring our school buildings. Putting in windows which let less heat escape during the winter are one task.
It is ironic that Julian does not want his book draft leaked, but my schoolmate said things spelled out in Morissette’s song are not themselves ironic.
Jessica Zafra says, “A black fly in your chardonnay is not ironic, but gross.”
Anyway, Conroy is my 50-30-20 Senator. He’s the most qualified for all our fifty United States. He pushes to rebuild our thirty-year old school buildings, and I walked with his supporters down route 20.
