I took a strange robotic phone call yesterday (Super Tuesday) when I happened to be at home in the mid-morning. The robotic voice said it was doing a public opinion poll, and that I would win a cruise to the Bahamas for answering! I answered the three questions:
1) What should be done to help the economy? I said (1) create jobs, others as I recall were (2) lower the deficit, (3) institute a flat tax, (4) other
2) What party do you expect to vote for in the presidential election this fall? I said (1) Democrat
3) Do you approve of the job Obama is doing? I said (1) yes
Then I got bored and hung up before talking to the person who would arrange my cruise.
My best guess is that they are selling timeshares in the Bahamas, and are using the political poll to get around the do-not-call list. (My understanding is that anyone has a first amendment right to call anyone for political reasons, but we can opt out of commercial calls through the list.) Anyone know any more about these people?

I’ve been getting one labeled OPINION POLL with the number 702-430-7522. I haven’t answered.
