Transition at Mass Dems as John Walsh to Step Down

July 16, 2013 By jkleschinsky

According to the Globe (and confirmed by an e-mail Kate received), John Walsh plans to step down this fall. After 7 successful years leading our party he’s stepping down to take over at Gov. Patrick’s Together PAC. I don’t have the same level of institutional knowledge as many on here so I can’t compare John to previous start party chairs, but I think he’s done a remarkable job. Since I became active in state politics in 2009 John has been nothing but inviting. As I mentioned to friends on Facebook this morning, he’s provided the right amount of leadership and trust in our grassroots at one of the most challenging times for Democrats in the past decade. And he’s been very supportive and inclusive of our state party’s youth organizations. Thank you John for your leadership and for leaving us in a strong position to succeed.

So let the rumor mill start. What does this mean for the Governor’s future? And who will lead us moving forward?
