Random Nerd news: Melissa Gilbert is running for Congress from Michigan this fall.

April 16, 2016 By mike_cote

Melissa Gilbert is a Democratic Candidate for the Michigan 8th Congressional District this fall. While she is probably best known for “Little House on the Prairie”, as a self-described Nerd myself, I know her better for playing Anna Sheridan in the “Babylon 5” TV Series opposite her husband at the time, Bruce Boxleitner.

Her nerd-related credentials are further notable because she is currently married to Timothy Busfield of “Revenge of the Nerds” and “Thirtysomething” fame.

The 8th Congressional District is Northwest of Detroit, North of Ann Arbor, East of Lansing and south of Flint.

If the GOP candidate were Alison Arngrim?

Arngrim evidently maintains her friendship with Gilbert. She was also an AIDS activist after the death of her Little House husband, actor Steve Tracy.

Maybe Gilbert seeks to replace Fred Grandy as a 70s/80s television congressional nominee? He’s currently a conservative radio talk show host. Or Sonny Bono?

        Ouch!
