Schiff’s closing

January 24, 2020 By Charley on the MTA

I don’t have much to say that hasn’t been said elsewhere; it just seems important to witness and mark this moment.

This is pretty much it: “If the truth doesn’t matter, we’re lost.” Schiff’s case is that everything that incriminates the President is all in plain sight. The facts aren’t really in dispute.

We will just have to see if the Republicans will continue to embrace this outrageous, obvious corruption — the attack on our very democracy —  with both arms. There’s every reason to think they’ll do so, which makes the entire GOP a criminal cartel.

Yup. “Criminal Cartel” — that sums it up rather nicely.

The proud teacher, Laurence Tribe, on his patriot prodigy profile in courage : :”Rep. Adam Schiff is a one-man master class in effective advocacy. He’s spellbinding without showboating, clear as a bell without being boring, educational without being condescending, and piercingly logical without being pedantic.”

Schiff and his managers achieved two political objectives with their presentation IMO :

            1. convinced voters to remove Trump from office
            2. improved Democratic chances of flipping the Senate in November

#2 is a great outcome and a good rebuttal to anyone who thought impeachment was risky.
