Bloomberg drops out, endorses Biden

March 4, 2020 By fredrichlariccia

Michael Bloomberg dropped out of the presidential race today and endorsed Joe Biden :

“Three months ago I entered the race to defeat Donald Trump.  I am leaving the race for the same reason — to defeat Donald Trump — because it is clear to me staying in would make achieving that goal more difficult.

Defeating Trump starts with uniting the party behind the candidate with the best shot to do it.  It’s clear that is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden. ”

Bloomberg’s campaign died on that first debate stage, and Warren did the bulk of the butchering.

Senator Kamala Harris endorsed Joe Biden today:

“There is no one better prepared than Joe to steer our nation through these turbulent times and restore truth, honor and decency to the Oval Office. He is kind and endlessly caring and he truly listens to the American people.
Joe Biden has served our country with dignity and we need him now more than ever. I will do everything in my power to help elect him the next President of the United States.”

Joe’s response to Harris endorsement : “Kamala — You’ve spent your whole career fighting for folks who’ve been written off and left behind — and no small part of that alongside Beau. From our family : thank you.”

“Getting into this race was never just about becoming president. For us it was about working to unify the country and making sure we defeat Donald Trump and there came a point where I realized the best thing I could do in the service of those goals was to step aside and to support Vice President Biden.” Pete Buttigieg on Morning Joe today

After losing his Dad recently, I was struck when Pete described how he and Joe bonded during the course of the campaign.

And then last week when Joe accepted his endorsement he said how much Pete reminded him of his late son, Beau.

It is so heartening to see this friendship develop.
