Joe Biden hit it over the “Green Monsta” during his Lawrence O’Donnell’s MSNBC town hall interview last night.
He offered a humanistic vision for America’s future based on healing our collective soul. His FDR-style ‘New Deal’ includes a progressive domestic agenda to respond to COVID and prepare for future pandemics and their economic fallout; and an internationalist foreign policy to repair America’s tattered standing in the world community.
He answered every question posed from ordinary people all over the country clearly and concisely. Among the highlights : he would NOT pardon Trump and he WOULD address systemic institutionalized racism.
I slept well last night for the first time in four years in the peace of knowing I had just witnessed the next true President of the United States and leader of the democratic free world.
Sorry I missed this. I generally watch a lot of MSNBC primetime, but have avoided it during the pandemic since they seem to be all about gloom and doom.
I missed it as well, though I’m sure it will be available on youtube. My long hours at the computer caught up with me last night, and I crashed at about 8:30p.
Like you, my wife and I have stopped watching MSNBC for the same reason. We’re usually able to handle a little bit of CNN.
Interestingly, and unrelated to the pandemic, we find ourselves turning off live broadcasts in favor of streaming videos because of the interminable commercial breaks. We’ve always muted the sound during commercials. For the last few days, we’ve found that both CNN and MSNBC go to commercials essentially simultaneously, and the resulting ads run for what seems like an eternity. I close down the browser at about the three minute mark.
I am glad he did well. Who watches these things though?
That is not intended as a criticism of the Biden campaign, rather an attempt to remind us not to think inside the bubble.
In terms of the campaign, I think he is right to lay low, much as I would like a towering national figure at this point.
Trump is doing a great job of destroying his November chances and there is no good reason for Biden to get in the way. Plenty of time for Biden to emerge for the sprint starting on Labor Day.
Events like this give Biden a chance to warm up ad stay limber. I also hope that his campaign is using the time to retool its digital operation (if “retool” is the right word). I see that as a looming weakness, potentially.
“85K dead, 40M lost jobs under Trump but it’s *Biden* that’s having tough week.
NYT completely committed to this storyline. Virtually *every* Biden article in Dem Disarray and yes Trump leads in 1 of the last 49 polls at RCP.” Eric Boehlert
“Yup, the Washington Post doesn’t pull this malarkey. Face it. The NYT is just bad in its domestic political coverage. It was bad in 2016, too. Its glory days are over.” Terry McGinty
This is a bubble of political junkies. One of my weekly zooms is with two fellow junkies I met on the Obama campaign, and we ran out of things to talk about this week. There just isn’t a lot of news to be made. It’s hold in place until the summer conventions, which will be unusually late and possibly more important than they’ve been in setting the stage for a quick fall campaign.
My moderate friends are enthusiastic about Biden and my liberal and lefty friends are resigned to him. No third party voters in the bunch. No one is undecided. We just want to Dump Trump and move on with our lives.
From your keyboard to God’s ears, I hope!
