I saw a lawn-sign today that cheerfully proclaimed ‘We’re All In This Together”.
We are?
I work in retail. I’m 65 years old, asthmatic, high blood pressure, and because I work in a food market, I was considered an “essential worker” which meant my place of business was open and I had to work while many others got to collect unemployment and an extra $600 a week under the CARES act. Me? I got to expose myself to a deadly illness and was paid an extra $2 per hour on top of the less than $20 per hour I made. Wow, that new Porsche is closer that I thought.
I still can’t get tested for the virus, even though I am an “essential worker” but I read where professional baseball players will now get tested every two days.
So please stop the lying. We’re not “All in This Together”…..low wage workers continue to take it on the chin while the rich and famous get special treatment.
Agreed, it’s bad and getting worse.
