More Obvious Madness Confirmed

November 15, 2021 By terrymcginty

Trump cultists talk about normal Americans who don’t hang on every word from the madman being “sheep”.

The news today confirms what I and so many were screaming from the mountaintops all last year: it was absurd to only recommend testing when someone had SYMPTOMS, which is what the Trump lackies were recommending last year.

As for anyone who thought made any sense whatsoever: they are the ones who had stopped thinking and were “sheep”. And they were sheep led to the slaughter, along with innocents like my mother, and an undetermined hundreds of thousands of other human beings, who ultimately ended up being collateral damage as a result of this and other insanity in the negligent and sometimes actively malign response to this disease in 2020 by the so-called ‘Trump Administration’.

Did something happen today? The two things I can think of are both good news – Biden signed the infrastructure bill and Steve Bannon surrendered to authorities.

      From CNN (https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/15/politics/steve-bannon/index.html) (emphasis mine):

Steve Bannon won’t be detained before trial on charges of contempt of Congress after he failed to comply with subpoenas from the House committee investigating January 6.

Bannon, a former adviser to former President Donald Trump, appeared in federal court for the first time Monday. He will be arraigned on Thursday.

Prosecutors did not seek to detain Bannon before trial. Under conditions approved by the judge, Bannon agreed to weekly check-ins, to surrender his passport, provide notice of any travel outside the district and seek court approval for travel outside the continental United States.

      …

“I’m telling you right now, this is going to be the misdemeanor from hell for Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden,” Bannon told reporters after the hearing, swearing his team is “going to go on the offense.”

It appears to me that Mr. Bannon is going to make a media circus of the entire thing, just like he and the insurrectionists did during each of the impeachments. That would be much harder to do if he were held in the kind of solitary confinement that Chelsea Manning was kept in for YEARS.

Steve Bannon should be IN JAIL. NOW. He should on the hook for something like $50,000/day in fines each and every day starting NOW.

Congress already has inherent contempt — they haven’t used it.

This is indictment is a bare minimum. It strikes me as a stalling action by DoJ, just as the strategy of the insurrectionists is to stall and delay.

I see ZERO indication that anybody at DoJ is treating this insurrection with the seriousness it merits.

I’ll repeat the prediction I made earlier. The GOP will retake the House before Mr. Bannon’s trial begins. The incoming GOP majority in January of 2023 will dissolve the committee, evaporate ALL the subpoenas, and no doubt welcome Mr. Bannon as a hero.

We are slowly and surely walking into a chainsaw. By the spring of 2023, there will be Democratic blood and guts all over everything — and not just metaphorically.

I don’t understand why this is so hard to understand. The insurrectionists have been telling us LOUDLY — just like they shout at their base — what they’re going to do.

Why do we act as if they’re anything except deadly serious?

So in other words Bannon is gonna Bannon. I suppose it would be too much to hope for the media to not give him oxygen. They are under absolutely no obligation to do so. You really want him in solitary? That sounds like vengeance rather than justice to me. The partisan makeup of the House has NO bearing on Bannon’s trial. We must allow this process to play out! I am begging you to stop doing your part to stoke a civil war! You thought the 2018 and 2020 elections wouldn’t happen either so this is starting to feel like crying wolf.

A partisan gap in COVID-19 deaths is widening, with just 40 percent of people in counties that had voted for Trump vaccinated compared to 53 percent of people in counties that had voted for Biden.

The gap in Covid’s death toll between red and blue America has grown faster over the past month than at any previous point. In October, 25 out of every 100,000 residents of heavily Trump counties died from Covid, more than three times higher than the rate in heavily Biden counties: 7.8 per 100,000.

The Right is willing to die to support their leader, their ideology, their cause.

      Indeed.

The cynical leaders of the right, of course, are eager to blame this on the Democrats.

I’m reminded of the Shakers — a religious cult who died out because they argued and believed that sex in ALL forms was immoral.
