The attack on Paul Pelosi was the most recent example of how hate speech leads to hate crime. The police chief said: “This was not a random act. It was intentional.” The assailant has been identified as a radicalized violent extremist with a history as a Holocaust denier, COVID conspiracy theorist, anti-government, climate denier, transphobe, racist, election denier, Q-Anon believer.
I wonder where he could have gotten these ideas?
We must all denounce the violence that gives license to people’s worst fears and conspiracies as acceptable relief of political persuasion.

Indeed — and it was more than that.
This fascist attack was another attack on representative democracy.
The question is what, if anything, our government will do about it.
