Are we there yet?

The third stage: being there All through the Bush years, progressive right-wing watchers refused to call it "fascism" because, though we kept looking, we never saw clear signs of a deliberate, committed institutional partnership forming … [Read more...]

More about yesterday’s SDC election – WARNING – rant alert

May 11, 2008 By AmberPaw 14 Comments

I was also present at yesterdays SDC elections in the IBEW hall as a newly elected SDC member.  [ballot - 4th Middlesex]. I was the only SDC member there wearing a John Edwards 08 button.  Certainly, I was perhaps the most relaxed … [Read more...]

3/16 Compression Unions

November 25, 2007 By lasthorseman 22 Comments

Now what in God's name do 3/16 compression unions have to do with the political scene in Massachusetts? Well one of the final winters is coming.  I have a 1992 Ford plow truck to clear snow from the driveway.  It is all I can … [Read more...]

Tancredo: Prosecute Legislators!

September 5, 2007 By kyledeb 19 Comments

It is one thing to harmfully advocate for the local enforcement of federal immigration laws.  It is another to suggest that legislators who disagree with you should be prosecuted.  This is the first time I have ever used … [Read more...]

Putin compares current US policy to the Third Reich; now that is scary

May 9, 2007 By AmberPaw 5 Comments

It is not that I find Putin to be my favorite world leader.  But there is something to be said for his concerns.  I really do see a contempt for human life in secret rendition flights to "black holes" and torture, to ICE raids as … [Read more...]

The End of America: A letter of Warning to a Young Patriot [new book]

April 28, 2007 By AmberPaw 2 Comments

My own family left our country of origin because to be a member of our ethnic group, our religion, had become a death sentence.  I remember my great-uncle showing me the scars of bullets.  Riders galloped through his village … [Read more...]

MGL 59 section 38D

February 11, 2007 By lasthorseman Leave a Comment

Last time I wrote it was about the adverse effects of 40B.  I view 40B as the product of an industry lobbyist effort to get around local zoning laws.  The stupidity of Mass laws has me once again wanting to pull out of this … [Read more...]

Massachusetts now has a commitment to 5600MW of wind power, equal to nearly 187 Block Island projects.

Better write those contracts pretty pretty tight.

David Abel@davabel

The money National Grid earns from a transmission line for the nation's first offshore wind farm is “appalling,” “unconscionable,” and amounts to “ripping off ratepayers,” RI regulators say.

A cautionary tale as we ramp up offshore wind power. #mapoli

Dear @BostonPatrolmen - What are we supposed to think?

What conclusion shall we come to about your integrity? Your transparency? About your views on police accountability? Your dedication to “protect and serve”?

What is left?

Just a reminder: A lot of elected officials and candidates have accepted donations from this union and have not pledged to return the money or stop accepting donations from this union in the future.

They don’t deserve your trust and they don’t deserve your vote. #bospoli https://twitter.com/BostonGlobe/status/1381178472047984640

Every time we hear about methane the story gets a little worse, which means the truth will be a lot worse, which is why the industry is pushing hard on natgas now. Recently they’ve taken to calling it “low carbon gas” to keep the focus on CO2. https://twitter.com/GlobalEcoGuy/status/1380914220150181897

Dr. Jonathan Foley@GlobalEcoGuy

Methane has risen by *over 150%* and is accelerating.

For reference, CO2 has risen 50%.

We need to *dramatically* reduce methane emissions to have a chance of keeping the planet below 1.5-2 C. This includes methane from animals, rice, landfills, and the energy industry. https://twitter.com/robbie_andrew/status/1380788370771750913

Methane is increasing at a rate 3 x more than CO2 and will cause 80 x more warming in the next 20 years! Our children are depending on us to act.

We need all-electric buildings
gas transition plans, and
to stop dirty energy infrustructure.
