August 28, 2007 By Charley on the MTA 20 Comments

Dick Howe's got a rundown of the final debate between the MA-05 candidates. Eileen Donoghue is making a run at Niki Tsongas' experience -- portraying herself as a seasoned public servant and Tsongas as, well, a political wife who didn't … [Read more...]

August 1, 2007 By lynne 44 Comments

That's been the first huge limiting factor in renewable energy production - how do you store it for the rainy day? In particular, solar. The sun only shines some of the time, so when it's not shining, how do you get electricity, if you're … [Read more...]

MA-05 Candidates spar on energy: Eldridge takes offensive

July 31, 2007 By Charley on the MTA 15 Comments

Well, it's a good strategy if you don't think you're getting the attention you want: Pick a fight. Dick Howe tells us that Jamie Eldridge directly challenged Barry Finegold's supposed former support of ethanol and coal-to-liquid. (I'd love … [Read more...]

Note to media on MA-05: Just cover the race.

July 17, 2007 By Charley on the MTA 10 Comments

Dick Howe sorry, Marie also notes the coverage of MA-05 as being defined as coverage of the Tsongas campaign. So we're not alone in noticing that the others have gotten short shrift from certainly the Globe, and as we noticed, the AP, which … [Read more...]

Hello, AP?

July 16, 2007 By Charley on the MTA 9 Comments

Well, this is just hard to explain, isn't it?Here's an article on MA-05 fundraising; and as we might expect, Niki Tsongas is in the lead. Somewhat less expected is Barry Finegold's strong showing. And as we've seen on BMG, in terms of 2nd … [Read more...]

The choice kerfuffle in MA-05

June 26, 2007 By David 71 Comments

Curiouser and curiouser.  As you probably know if you're following the MA-05 race, at a recent debate Jamie Eldridge questioned Barry Finegold about Finegold's co-sponsorship of a bill that would have required a 24-hour waiting period … [Read more...]

MA-05 Health Care forum post-mortem

June 4, 2007 By Charley on the MTA 2 Comments

Well, I came out of the health care forum on Saturday pretty happy with our slate of candidates. The candidates were all essentially well-prepared, clear and forthcoming with their thoughts on health care. They did not avoid questions, they … [Read more...]

.@CDCgov dir. @RWalensky, once part of MA's #COVID19 advsy board, said

"Now is not the time to relax the critical safeguards that we know can stop the spread of COVID-19 ... not when we are so close."

But @MassGovernor pushes to reopen.

Who is advising Gov. Baker now?

It's time to state outright that Charlie Baker's science advisory team is the Chamber of Commerce. That's why we were slow to act last year, why our public health network got ignored on vaccines & why our reopenings have flown in the face of data, expert advice & common sense. https://twitter.com/MikeConnollyMA/status/1366423893276303364

Just reiterating my COVID philosophy: Instead of bucking advice from the CDC and Dr. Fauci (by further reopening the Mass. economy), we should #TaxTheRich and use the new revenue to provide cash relief to people in need and small businesses while also investing in health equity.

Just a reminder that Massachusetts is going to unlimited capacity indoor dining starting tomorrow while the CDC begs us not to, and it’s super embarrassing that no one can articulate a justification why other than 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♂️
