What completely leaves me in a state somewhere between baffled and befuddled is the conventional Washington Common Wisdom that the answer to making the silent majority of American voters happy is reducing the budget deficit by cutting/eliminating Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. This is actually the complete and unequivocal polar opposite of what the silent majority of American voters consider a satisfactory solution to reducing the deficit and restoring the American economy to the commonly accepted level of traditional greatness that has been set in the past. The silent majority view tax increases on the wealthiest American’ the best possible path to a medium term balanced budget, they will have to come accept the fact that there will need to be some other fiscal policy prescriptions necessary to accomplish the ultimate goal, but having a somewhat acceptable level of tax justice is a good place for legislators to start.
The worst possible starting point for negotiations is cuts to what most call entitlement programs, and I label deferred earned benefits, or repayable present benefits that improve access to opportunity and protection from poverty. The only part of America that cutting spending on these programs benefits in the short-term is the ultra elite bankers and corporate executives, in the long-term it would probably lead to their utter demise. Eventually the less fortunate will not just be less fortunate but will land in the social circle currently occupied by people we would now define as completely destitute and beyond any possible obtainable level of hope or happiness. If the 98 percent of the public all end up at this level or even only 75 percent end up in the land of the hopeless they are going to resort to an absolutely anarchist revolution that leads to cataclysmic destruction of the resources and assets the rich and powerful find essential to sustaining their lives of personal luxury.
If you think the Guerrilla Warfare undertaken by the most certifiably insane revolutionary government coup’s in the history of the world were apocalyptic wait until you see what people that used to have and now not only don’t have but have lost hope of ever having can do when they are presented with a common enemy and tormenter to villianize.
If you think some of the upheavals fueled by peasants in third world countries, in places where the people were fighting for a way of life they had never before dreamt of being able to have were violent and destructive wait until people that had that lifestyle stolen from them band together to punish their accused injurer. The doom and gloom described in the Old Testament will seem like a scene from an elementary school student’s action novel recommended summer reading. It will be ugly, dangerous and possibly the event that causes the end of day’s scenario that all the loony tune paranoid scistcophrinics are always carrying on about right after they shoot a staffer at the local Planned Parenthood chapter.
O.k. I am obviously using hyperbolae; guess Sean Hannity doesn’t like getting a taste of his own medicine, if any of the Prime Time, respectable journalists at Fox News lays their eyes on this piece of how they will demonize me for using violent vitriol and dangerous rhetoric. Just another case in point of those pesky hypocritical liberals that are always laying blame at the feet of the NRA for the crime rate in America, I don’t blame solely the NRA or any single organization of all of the social ills that we face as a nation.
I don’t solely blame those new conservatives that are either completely unable to listen to logical or facts and base every single one of their talking points on Ayn Rand’s ironically tilted philosophy “Objectivism” we as liberals have also added plenty of fuel on the fire, and even if our portion of the blame was a result of good intentions or bad we still are responsible for it.
I place the blame in several directions, the most urgent holder of blame is members of wildly diverse social and ideological groups, and they are the ones that need to be reached immediately and desperately. They are the ones that have a large amount of responsibility for the challenges we face, yet refuse to recognize their flaws and weaknesses and seek to have praise bestowed upon them for pointing the blame on others, and deflecting accountability for their failures onto others that are weaker or less talented or intelligent than they are. These are the ultimate destroyers of our society, way of life, long-term success, and future collective economic progress as a country. Without these men and women who prefer to turn a blind eye to their short-comings and in the process end up obtaining a level of success that is less than equal to the amount of potential they posses; coming to the realization that recognizing their faults and improving upon them will allow them to achieve a level of success unimaginable in their wildest fantasies.
All of us should be working to spread the message to the masses that the answers to our problems can be found be any average Jane or Joe with an IQ over 80 so long as they are willing to blend differing ideas together, and have the confidence in their intellectual ability to admit when somebody else has a better plan. We created all of our problems, we can fix all of them as well, think of the metaphor that something made by man is breakable because man is not perfect, but what one man made another broke, and could be fixed by a third, and without the dependence of each other on all the next, there would never be anything for man to make in the first place.
