This video — portentously titled “The Decision” — purports to be a Romney family gathering to decide if husband/dad/father-in-law/grandpa Romney will run for President. As cloying and fraudulent as this video is, there’s one moment of honesty that blew my mind.
Mitt’s son Tagg says:
I don’t think you have a choice, I think you have to run. I look at the way your life has unfolded. You’re gifted, you’re smart, you’re intelligent, but you’ve also been extraordinarily lucky. And, so many things have broken your way that you couldn’t have predicted or controlled it would be a shame not to at least try.
You mean that being the son of a national politician and rich industrialist had something to do with Mitt’s success? What are we to tell all the poor folk that Republican’s claim have an equal shot at fame and fortune.
Good for you Tagg. If only more on the right understood that there’s a limit on self-madeness.

If you watch closely, I think that you can catch a glimpse of Kerry Muffy Healy and Peter Porcupine standing outside on the porch, smiles frozen in place.
